Charlton vs. Bristol City | 4th May 2013 | Match Preview, Predictions, Teams, News & Views
As Preview Towers prepares to pull down the shutters on another season we’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of the previewers who have contributed to the pre-match views and analysis and all those who have read and made their predictions in the lead up to the games. We sign off the season with the preview of the game against League One bound Bristol City in hope that we can secure a Top 10 finish in our first season back in English Football’s second tier – a magnificent achievement by Chris Powell and the team whatever way you look at it. After what has been a difficult season at The Valley, the Addicks will be looking to end the season on a high by securing a fourth straight home win.
The Team
Fresh from their triumphant Kent Senior Cup victory, a few of the team may hope to get a place in the first team squad although the last game of the season (at home) is a great opportunity for the crowd to thank the team for its effort over the past nine months so don’t expect to see too many changes to the previous teams/squads other than a couple of youngsters on the bench perhaps. Captain Johnnie Jackson and Andy Hughes may return to the fold injury dependant whilst the rest of the team seems to be picking itself at the moment.
There may be an outing for Scott Wagstaff to potentially say his goodbyes to a club he has been with since he was a kid as well as an opportunity to introduce some of the new crop such as Joe Piggott and Kevin Feely. Regardless, we’ll see a strong a team as possible to get another home win on the board.
The Opposition
Already condemned to League One, Bristol City will be purely playing for pride at The Valley and unless there is a rapid turnaround in fortunes then the other Robins will find it difficult. Without a win away in 11 games (since beating Sheffield Wednesday in December), Brizzle have struggled all season despite having the likes of Sam Baldock at their disposal. They want this season over, and have done for weeks.
Prediction
Sign off in style, 3-0 home win. May the 4th be with us.
Come on You Reds! See you next season!

Seeing as I missed the Barsnley 6 I have a feeling we will do it again. 6-0 home win thanks to goals from Kermit (2) Fuller, Jackson, Morrison and the final goal coming from Smith to round off a perfect week for him.0

Hmmm, Addicks going for 4th home win in a row, City relegated and appalling away from home...
It can only end in tears, 0-1 to Brizzle City
Great season lads0 -
A real hummmmdinger 4-3 to the Addicks
A few tears from myself as SCP is worshipped by the hordes and many of whom doubted this footballing god
A truly wonderful season just slightly tinged by the fact palace will make the play offs and the scum will survive
But being a real saddo I'll be fiddling with my terrace tranny in the hope that some good news filters thru

0 - 2 down at half time...CP hands out custard tarts believing it to be spinach. Popeye is substituted with Bluto who scores a hat trick in two minutes...then I wake up.0

Nice closing preview @WSS ...hoping one or two youngsters are given a chance this along with a victory would round off a successful season just nicely!0
-
Baldock, who is desperate to impress and get out of Brizzle, has a blinder, we buy him and he is useless for us next season!0
-
The dream Saturday: Charlton get a top 10 finish. Palace fail to make the playoffs. Millwall go down. Is it too much to ask for?0

Experience has taught me that easy peasy usually turns out to be lemon squeezy,so i will be there just to applaud the Manager and his teams for a strange season with a terrific ending. It would be nice to see some youngsters included, but despite my disappointment at the way we have played at home sometimes I hope to be back in August with high hopes as always.0

Good to see the home form has been turned around and I'm expecting the run to continue sending everyone home happy, except Bristol City supporters. Hope and expect the staff and players to get a resounding applause to sign off what has been above a lot of peoples expectations. 5-1 home victory.0

I fancy goals here, maybe another 3-2 finish to the season. For some reason I think we'll score a direct freekick.0

Yann to score another sensational goal to end the season & a 4-0 win.0
-
It's all about acknowledging an excellent effort from Chris and the lads under difficult circumstances this season.
I obviously hope they can sign off with a win but the result is not too important in the overall scheme of things.0 -
3-1, 9th position maintained, a couple of youngsters get some game time, Yann free kick special from 27 yards, fully deserved lap of honour, happy Valley, happy me.0

5 - 3 to Charlton is a "who cares?" sort of game.
Fox and Smith get some game time. Waggy scores in his farewell game and leaves in tears.
No pitch invasion and Millwall stay up while Palace make the Play offs.0 -
3-1 to the Addicks0

Addicks to win 2-0, a rare sojourn to The Valley for me this Saturday.............thanks @WSS for all the previews and to those who have also contributed to the 'preview' threads. Looking forward to next season and a play-off push (I hope).
Cheers RM0 -

Had to switch seats, normally sit in the north upper.

I think we'll score 4 end to a good season.
Hopefully we'll see Waggy and a few others who are likely to leave.
Would love to see Millwall relegated and Palace miss out on the play offs0 -
Bless her mate. Just shows you how long the pain takes to wear off, 50 years.PopIcon said:

Hey-ho, I'm going for 4-0 home win. Yan brace, Harriot, then Powell subs himself on and scores, the roof explodes and we all go home very happy.0
