    How can it be more easily-identifiable than it already is? Surely changing it makes that more difficult.

    Not sure you can compare a local football club to brands that are trying to sell high end luxury products. Also all of those brands you mentioned have a need to be contemporary and cool to continue to sell to the ever-changing consumer. Football clubs predominantly live off their heritage and pull in fans from their local community. I do believe that the logo/badge could be developed and adapted to create clothing ranges that feel more modern but the badge on the shirt shouldn't change, especially because we have a strong one. I think Palace's recent upgrade of their logo was right fior them, their original one was s**t (new one is only slightly better!)

    I've always found the sword in hand a bit naff and have to agree with the OP that if we move on to bigger and better things our badge shouldn't still be saying "Nice little Charlton"

    Didn't our hooped socks from 2005ish have just the sword in hand on them? Thought it worked quite well there but don't want to change the badge. As well as ruining tradition, there's absolutely no need to change. Our club badge is strong and simple. It'll stand the test of time and I can't ever see us being in the scenario Palace and some other clubs have where we have to try and 'modernise'.

    not many clubs have badges that represent their nicknames these days. Think of both as a bit of Charlton history that we should want to hold on to. If we change the badge completely we may aswell change the colour of the kit and call ourselves Greenwich United.

    All I would do to the badge is make the sword and the text look more 3D than they do now, the content and layout would remain the same
