Pre season friendly at The Valley?

Anyone got any thoughts or indeed news on this? Last season there wasn't a game because of the Olympics and I believe there wasn't one the year before because of police costs so we ended up playing a cup game against a foreign team. A premier league team would be nice as long as it wasn't the nigels...please no...talk about devalue our top league in the eyes of the watching world.

    No, that's on Sunday 21. VIP and Valley Gold members can train on the pitch with players. ST holders watch from stands. Harsh but fair : - )

    Perhaps they are trying not to play as many home games during the summer break so that the club can focus on fixing the pitch?

    We must be due a good pre season friendly at the Valley. I know we had Fulham away last year behind closed doors, but we always used to play a pre team pre season in the old days. Who remembers when we played Spurs the summer after Euro 96? Sheringham, Anderton etc all got a big round of applause when they came out if I remember rightly.

    Celtic are playing Brentford in a friendly, should be able to persuade them to make the trip to SE7...

    I emailed someone at the club about the celtic rumour. He said it wouldn't happen due to celtic's appearance fee and police costs as they charge full whack for friendlies. Sounds like we really have next to no money, especially if brentford can afford celtic's appearance fee and police costs.

    The MET would be bang against it and charge us alot more for police costs than Brentford

    This is the exact wording from Chris Parkes
    Unfortunately it will not be Celtic. Apart from the fact they would want a substantial sum to appear the Police bill would be very high which would make it uneconomical.
    We are working on getting a game and hope to announce something soon.
