Hi-de-Hi! actor Paul Shane has died at the age of 72 following a short illness, says his agent.
The star of the 80s BBC sitcom was surrounded by friends and family in a hospice in his home town of Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Sat on the next table to him in a restaurant near Oxford Circus once, he was having lunch with a much younger actress and counselling her on her relationship problems with her cheating boyfriend!
