This is our year. Great runs in both cups.

We do well when there is a "4" in the year.

Got a feeling we will get past Oxford, then get beat by someone like Rotherham in the second round.

£10 tickets I reckon like last year. Barely scrape 5,000 for it.....

A discount for ST holders would be nice!
  • Uninspiring.

    Would've preferred them away.

Not sure what you lot are moaning about - we got a home tie, which is always a good start when playing one of the big teams..................
  • Complete second 11 as per.

    Complete second 11 as per.

I'd like to hope Powell's learnt from the Huddersfield debacle in the FA Cup last season. No reason not to pick a strong side for this, hopefully get a win and add momentum to the start of our season.

I remember them being us at home on penalties a few years ago, I can see them getting through in normal time this season.

Tuesday 1st October 2002. Worthington Cup 2nd Round.
Oxford U Home. We lost on penalties.

What a memory. No, it was Covered End Junior's 1st game & I kept the stub as a reminder :-)

I think our ex- goalie coach Andy Woodman was in goal for them that evening.

I reckon will be £5 tickets, would be nice if they do pay a £1 so we can get more people in and its likely we could have a home game a few days before.

I have a feeling we will play 4-5 U21's Piggott/Azzez, hope so anyway.

Reckon we will win and hopefully Palars in the next round!

Not sure if there are minimum prices in the league cup as there are in the FA Cup. But if so may not be able to drop them that low.

Also can't remember if home club has to still agree a price with away side.

Oxford may also bring a few (1000+) so the club may not want to drop the price too much.

Five sovs? You'll be lucky! It was a tenner last year for that bore against Orient.

Oxford have a very decent support for their level so I expect tickets will be around £10.

True, all of those need to be taken into account. But if permits feel £1-£5 is the way to go otherwise we will get under 5k imo

I hope he plays some U21's,but we need to keep some established players in the side also.Hope Fox,Feely,Poyet and Piggot get a run out.

I think the Reading friendly was cancelled because of the london riots (minimal policing).

Incorrect. It was cancelled due to us drawing them in the first round of the league cup.

It was the league cup that was postponed due to the riots.

As mentioned already, Orient was a tenner so I reckon itll be the same for Oxford...

I'm sure remember their (what appeared to be) youth having running battles with the stewards/Ob in the Jimmy Seed the last time they came.

I hope they have the North Upper open as there is no atmosphere when it is closed.

Last time I was back for a League Cup first round tie it was the dreadful performance against Yeovil (Waggy's full debut). I hope this will not be a repeat as I will probably go.
