Would you pay £60 to see Charlton v Real Madrid in a Pre Season Friendly ?

A lot of Bournemouth fans probably will not but I reckon there'd be a fair few neutrals in the area that would. The publicity itself might prompt a decent uptake in season tickets.
If it was Charlton I'd say no but as it got closer I might change my mind0 -
If costs £150 to watch Madonna or Bon Jovi for the same amount of time you have to think on that basis £60 is not too much. I disagree with others , I think Bournemouth will probably sell a lot and if it was at The Valley I'm sure we would also .0

How much is Welling game?0

100% yes0

Is a game against Real Madrid ever really a 'friendly' in the eyes of a club like Bournemouth?
Not really IMO - it's likely to be the most anticipated match the club has ever had. So it's not 'just a friendly'0 -
Would be a sellout ;-)0
-
I probably would, only because I very much doubt that Charlton will play them in a competitive match, at the Valley, EVER.

Yes & it will sell out... Even if it is full of day-trippers0
-
That's absurd. It's not a competitive match, so it's just a grotesque circus for financial gain. I guarantee that the Bournemouth staff and players consider their match against us to be far more important.cafctom said:Is a game against Real Madrid ever really a 'friendly' in the eyes of a club like Bournemouth?

We're not Bournemouth but yes it is still just a friendly.cafctom said:Is a game against Real Madrid ever really a 'friendly' in the eyes of a club like Bournemouth?

Bournemouth have knocked Man Utd out of the cup and played other far more "anticpated" games than a meaningless friendly imho.
I'd say that In the eyes of their real fans, and not those who've bought the sky hype, it's a great game but its still just a friendly.
And a bloody expensive one at that.0 -

Lost count of how many gigs now cost £50+ and on that basis I would. If we brought back Kish to kick Ronaldo up in the air I would pay an extra tenner.Bedsaddick said:If costs £150 to watch Madonna or Bon Jovi for the same amount of time you have to think on that basis £60 is not too much. I

Fairly sure that you could be at the Champions league final for £60, so definitely not worth it for a friendly0
-
My Champions League Final ticket this year cost £230 and that was mid price. A fool and his money.......mpcafc said:Fairly sure that you could be at the Champions league final for £60, so definitely not worth it for a friendly

Not worth it0

That's a good point. I think I'd go if I was local.Bournemouth Addick said:My initial feeling was no way am I prepared to pay that but I know that I'll start justifying it soon...if only on the basis that I'll never get a chance to walk to a Real Madrid game again. Plus I pay a lot more than that for an average home game! See I've already started...
Will be lot of interest from the armchair Premiership supporters down here I reckon who wouldn't know Simon Francis if he sliced a clearance into their family jewels.0 -
I wouldn't pay a fiver because we'd more than likely lose and i'd prefer to pay £60 to see someone we'd definitely beat but I'm also a glory boy premiership fan so i'd go because of that even tho we'd lose so does that make me a glory boy wibble wibble wibble

competitive match then yes but not for a friendly game.0

I'm sure that's what they'll say in the press and to supporters. However there is no doubt in my mind that the players will be looking at that Real Madrid match and feeling 10x the excitement than being at home to Charlton in a regular Championship game. Not even debatable really.Viewfinder said:

Yeah 100%. Never going to get the opportunity again0

Delight quickly followed by shock at the price. I'm going to this one but doubt many of the regulars will go, especially with families. They have promised to send their first team squad minus confed cup players.
From listening to our chairman he makes out that we have paid a fair whack to Madrid for the privilege and needs to claw back some of the money thus the prices.
Will be interesting to see how Francis gets on against Ronaldo

Most Charlton supporters wouldn't go to a friendly when it is only 5-10 quid, so I don't know why there seems to be such an 'outrage' from some.0
-
If you were sure it would be the first team then probably so...is it going to be the big name stars though?0

My 100m Men's Olympic final ticket was £50.
I swapped it for a £290 seat and £20. God bless the Irish! :-)0 -
It's a resounding "no" from me.0

Haha, enjoyed that. It'd be tempting then!JohnnyJoeyDeeDee said:

I would like to say no i wouldnt
But i know i prob would0 -
How many chances will you get to see Real Madrid play charlton at the valley? I'd pay £55 for it, I fear it won't be too long that £55 will be the going rate to watch premiership football and not just the 'top four'0
-
Wouldn't think twice about it, of course i would.
Its Real Madrid at the Valley.0 -
I can't see the management looking at it that way, nor should the players if they are decent pros. What's at stake in a pre-season friendly? Zilch. Three points are up for grabs in every league game, three points that might turn out to be crucial in their tilt at the play-offs / fight against relegation, come next May.cafctom said:
