Not your 'favourite player', but who do think has performed the best for the team so far:

Close between Semedo, Iwelumo and Reid but I went for Semedo because he has come from nowhere

can't help but think a lot of this is reactionary after a good performance. Reid has done well, but i still think there is a lot more to come from him. If asked on Thursday or Friday, i'm sure some of those Reid votes would of gone to Mills.

My vote went for Iwelumo. He has been superb for, in comparison to a slight unsure feeling i had about him in pre-season. His ability to work for others is so noticeable, and he's chipped in with goals as well. A fantastic start for the striker who was arguably expected to start as our 4th striker.

    Where's Mc Carthy?:-)

Reidy has done well but Iwelumo or ZZ for me.

    ZZ by a short head.

By my reckoning Reid is the player we'd miss most if he was out injured, etc - so my vote went for him. It's easy to take what he does for granted, but I would be worried about the creative side of things if he were missing.

I like the look of Semedo, and I also think that Mills has been brilliant - he was first class on Saturday - but it's got to be Reidy after 10 games (bearing in mind Mills wasn't here at the very start)

thats a pretty fair way of looking at it actually. My view would be its the stuff ZZ and Semedo are doing around him that is giving him that extra 2-3 seconds he needs.

We could always bring someone else in to do their role - such as Holland or Sinclair for example. Hmmm ....... maybe not!

ZZ all day long for me, would normally pick a defender being one myself as appreciate their game more, none worthy of note alas although Mills has been solid if unspectacular.

Iwelumo for me as I think he's key to everything we d going forward, be it taking players away from the other striker, or occupying defenders for the likes of Reidy and ZZ to find space he's absolutely key. Plus he's scored 4 good and also important goals and picked up a fair few assists so the definate stand out performer for me.

Its a toss up for me between Reid, Iwelumo, ZZ or Mills. If Mills had been here for 10 games he would have got my vote. ZZ hasn't been here for 10 games either so I didn't vote for him. Reidy is clearly tremendously talented but more to come from him I feel. I've gone for Big Chris because he has literally been a tower of strength.

Reid is the clear winner, how about an "apart from Reid" poll to see how the Reidy votes distributed?

Voted Reid, but probably Big Chris second, though Semedo a close call.

One vote for Little Chris - that'll be Curb_It then???

    I voted for Reidy...

Semedo and ZZ are doing well too, but Reidy has just got more creativity, more shots and most our set pieces go through the man.

In general, its good that the close seconds to Reid can't really be decided on in this poll. The sign of a well performing team!!!

surprising myself I went for Mills

i really didn't want to like him being back in a CAFC shirt

    BUT

christ, it's good to have you back, you have made a difference

    BUT

don't get too big headed, it was a close call between you & that guitar wealding Irish boy ;-)

i've also been more than pleasantly suprised at the standard Mills has been performing at.

Because he hasn't for a few years now.

To be fair, he's had a cartilage operation and not match fit for most of those 10 games - and couldn't have started anyway.

I've no doubt Holland still has a role to play as the season progresses.
The midfield has been quality at this level - and not many teams can live with that without roughing us up.

Apart from Holland, we've Rocky Racoon, Harry Arter, Josh Wright, Dean Sinclair,Jerome Thomas & Darren Ambrose who can't hold down a place at the moment - assuming Sam is a 1st choice.

    But back to topic.

My heart would love to vote for Chrissie Powell.
What a legend, and at 38 years young, not really looking out of place.

Samedo, ZZ, Millsy & Lloyd Sam have put in top performances.

Reidy gets a lot of plaudits, because he's our creative mainspring and always seems able to conjure up a goal or assist.

But Big Chris for me. The moment he walked into Sparrows Lane as Chris who?, he's shown undying enthusiasm and dedication to the cause, proved to be a tidy player who does much unselfish work un-noticed, and still scores goals.

There's a lot to be said for a player who at 29, plays with the self discipline of a mature professional and the enthusiasm of a 'stars in his eyes' youngster.

Great post Oggy with you all the way, but have to say Im torn between Big Chris and Semedo....Semedo is for me the main reason that Reid is earning the plaudits, and Big Chris's efforts speak for themselves....half a vote each? Push comes to shove I'll have to go for Semedo.
  • He plays on the leeeeeeeeftttttt
He plays on the riiiiiiiiiight etc etc

We'd miss Reidy the most, honourable mentions to both Iwelumo and Weaver. I think Moutouakil would have been on the list if he hadn't been injured.

Who's voting for Cory Gibbs then?
  • I find Reid quite frustrating at times.

He's one of those players that can give the ball away 4 times but the 5th pass will set up a goal and suddenly the misplaced passes are forgotten.

For all round contribution, Player of the season so far has to be Big Chris.

Big Chris for me, said he would be a key player for us and he has not only not let me down he has shocked me with his non stop running and strength. I knew the man was a handful but he is a very, very usefulplayer and I suspect one of the first names on the team sheet.

Mills a close second, Reidy has been good but we know what he is capable.

Tel- in-Oz, I'm genuinely not having a pop at you, but I wondered on what you based your opinion as I thought you couldn't see or hear the games :-)
  • What a difference 12 months makes - celebrating our new signings and picking our best player out of four or five choices.

Not voting but, having missed the first few games, I have only seen the defence with Mills in it and this team looks like it is going to get better as they play together + 1 or 2 coming in January?
