If CP thinks he's worth a contract why not.

Dervite, Taylor and Cort were all freebies and have turned out to be good signings

Spoke to a Coventry supporting neighbour this morning and dared to brooch the subject of football... He seemed to think that he was a championship quality player, hard working and reliable and pretty sure he had indeed been released from his contract. My neighbour then went back to searching for a new ground on google.
  • Wages will be the issue. I suspect he is learning that FFP is hitting the pockets of players, but he may still want more than we are looking to pay, but I like the idea that he is in trial, and I hope we get to see a bit of him at Welling on Saturday.

    Which particular bit of him?

Whether it be the Dick or the Wood, that should be sufficient and we should not/cannot ask for more, surely?

    Dick Wood.

Can't believe no one else had a snigger at this.

randy, one aspect of the 'we're skint' refrain is that it might lead to the reserve and academy set up having some meaning. I have been guilty of saying we have no money true, but for me it could be a positive if it means our own progress into the first team squad.

Wash your mouth out, putting a positive spin on anything board related is serious breach of Charlton Life regulations.

Experienced centre back.Squad replacement/upgrade for Taylor?Does anyone know if he is left footed?

Answering my own question, according to Football Manager he is left footed and can also fill in at Left back so he could fill two spaces in our squad if Evina goes.

Unfair comment. We haven't sold anyone we would want to keep so that's a positive for the board. Think 99% of Charlton fans would be happy and feel more secure if we knew the financial realities. I could certainly live with being skint and making the best of it. Trouble is we have no level of transparency so naturally we want to know why that is and is the club safe.

CP has been looking for a left footed CB for quite a while now and their aren't that many around.
This fits in with his plans.

Does anyone know whether any of our out of contract players such as Haynes, Fuller, Evina are training with us at present as they surely must be training somewhere??

There was a suggestion that Evina was, Fuller lives in the midlands so I presume he's gone back there. BWP appears to be in the US trialling with the New York Red Bull team and no idea about Haynes and Waggy etc.

  • Sign him up!!

Just want an excuse to sing " Knock on Wood " !!

    Or:

"If we go down to the Wood today, we're sure of a big surprise" (Teddy Bear's Picnic).

I am actually really pleased with Wood joining up with us. I predict that Morro and Wood will end the season as first choice, with Dervite and Cort a very able back up. Defence is stronger as a unit than last year potentially. And with BWP confirmed as gone, it is SO obvious to all that we need 2 or 3 decent strikers in that Powell has no choice but to deal with that.

What a change it makes to have a player in the building that the fans of his old team have nothing but good things to say about.

how do you know where he will be in the pecker order?

Leading from the front with a name like that !!

I'm wary of any player that is 'rated' by other fans. "He can't pass, jump, defend, has a bad attitude and is slower than a slug" is more what puts me at ease :)

Cov supporting mate on twitter reckons he's a marmite player , gets proper stuck in but likely to give away ten pens a season .

Frazer Richardson and Andy Hughes were highly rated by Leeds fans. Nothing wrong with them.

I wouldn't mind a CB with a bit of pace personally, but a no nonsense defender is always useful.
