Pre-season like a pro, with Laurence Blooom

Hi guys, Iain from the Charlton media team here ('IL' on CAFCofficial).

As website editor, I wanted to join up to try and engage a bit more with supporters about what we do online and with social media. I promise this is not just an excuse to post links and try and nick a few cheap extra hits!

First of all, thanks to everyone who took part in the recent survey on www.cafc.co.uk and we're making immediate efforts to try and tailor our stuff a little more towards the feedback given to us by supporters.

It is partly with that in mind that we have launched 'Pre-season like a pro' on www.cafc.co.uk - although the kernel of the idea has been there for a few months.

If you've not seen it, here is week one (which went up today) --> http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20130704-pslap-returning-to-pre-season-895602.aspx and here's the video on its own --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZuKs8cW7Ic.

As you can see it's a bit different from the usual sort of thing we do on the O/S and I'm keen to get a bit of reaction from fans about it. Given the subject matter, it's not aimed at fans across the board, but hopefully it shows a new direction of trying to be more engaging and responding to the sort of thing fans have asked for.

Let me know any thoughts you have about it and perhaps anything you'd like to see incorporated into it as we talk to Laurence and other members of the backroom team more over the coming week.

Cheers,
Iain

Jeez, I thought the team would be playing football not auditioning for 'Come Dancing':-)

shame the entire interview is out of focus

EDIT: Didn't want to sound like a snob, but as some one doing a lot of videography work recently, out of focus shots in the editing room is the biggest headache ever. Something only you and maybe the Client would care about rather than the audience.

That's really nitpicking now. It's not exactly a high budget movie is it?

Enjoyed that. I asked for behind the scenes stuff on CAFCPlayer and this exactly to sort of thing I had mind.

Making sure some ones in focus takes a couple of moments and can make the video look a lot more professional. If the club wanted to acquire my services... ;)

Always very interesting to get a peek backstage. About the CAFC website in general - We really need some meat from the club about what's happening - Do we have money for transfers? How will FFP affect us? What are our mid-term plans? Why did the Russian takeover falter? You'll see on other threads that we Lifers are thirsting for information; a bit of communication from the owners would do wonders for our morale. Why the stony silence?

I think we acquired him from Southend?

Really? I think youre hoping for a bit mich there! In my opinion, apart from perhaps a generalised response to the question about FPP, the club shouldnt be communicating on any of those things!

Really? You enjoy being completely ignored by the owners of the club that simply would not exist without our support, do you? Try to find some sense of entitlement.

All behind the scenes footage is good - Man City's YouTube channel is great for that.

Think Matt, Gary, Iain and Jimmy have formed a really excellent press team. Very communicative, nailed the social media output, and always bring lots of new ideas. I've been really impressed with what they've done over the past couple of years.
