Yes going down Friday. Staying in nice posh hotel, watching Shakespeare on Friday night. Not drinking. Sorry not typical footie fan. Boring?

Yeah, aiming to get there about 12 and heading wherever there might be a meet up. Might break out the toilet roll for this one.

4 of us getting train down, on the 10:02 from Victoria, meeting up with some others in the Red White and Blue in Southsea. Walk to ground from there.

I'm coming over from the Isle of Wight with a couple of Charlton mates and a handful of Pompey. By far the nicest place for a drink is Old Portsmouth between Portsmouth & Southsea. Spice Island and The still & west are opposite each other and are right on the dock overlooking the sea if that's the sort of thing you like or a couple of good oldy woldy pubs too.

Trying to keep costs down and since the weathers supposed to be pleasant some al fresco drinking (I.e get a bag of 15 cans from the offy) might be on the cards. Does Portsmouth have a nice beach/park/square that's suitable for such an event ?
  • Anyone got any ticket info on this? Can find nothing on OS and a mate works with a Pompey fan who reckons our allocation is sold out.

    Only 15 ?? Lightweight!!!

It can't be sold out as there are no tickets for sale.

It's pay on the day and you can pay as little as £1 to get in.

  • Charlton supporters can watch the pre-season friendly at Portsmouth for as little as £1 thanks to a ‘pay what you like’ scheme.

The match takes place at Fratton Park on Saturday, July 20 (3pm) and fans can donate however much they wish to watch Chris Powell’s side take on their new-look hosts.

Please note that supporters paying by credit or debit card can only pay £1 or increments of £5 thereafter (£5, £10, £15, etc).

Tickets will be on sale at Fratton Park on the day and are not available from The Valley.

Yep, we've sold out at a pre season friendly in Portsmouth. I suppose it's because everyone wants to catch a first glimpse of Messi, who we signed yesterday.

What do you expect? Team we haven't played for ages. South Coast. Hottest period of weather for donkeys. The world and his mother-in-law will be going to this. It's the loyal fans who couldn't get tickets I feel sorry for.
  • Do I need to be Valley Gold to pay £1 ?

Will pompey announce the average payment per Charlton fan ....

My prediction £2.50 average per fan
  • Number looking decent for a PSF away fixture so Oohahh has to dig out the away fan's in another way. For every Nathan there's 10 people putting in 5 plus. My prediction would be around £7. Any of the 7 going with us that tries to put £1 in will be getting a mucky pint.

The away end has a roof now but there is still no legroom in the same old seats. There is talk of making it a home end for this coming season but we should be in the same away end as before on Saturday.

i'll take it being nearer my £2.50 than your £7 from the away supporters
