Plus the numerous sources on the web from Bournemouth fans suggesting they would rather stick pins in their eyes than hand over £60 for a match against Real Madrid. Clearly not the case when it comes down to it.

Some Bournemouth not up for it Tom in no uncertain terms as you'd see from their message board (log in required i think) - http://www.bournemouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=58236&start=1

In responding to the question of whether £60 represents a rip off or not a post from Dannyhollandsfan is representative of one section of their support; http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AS669AzO8bw

I'd hate to think some lazy outsider would make generalisations about charlton fans in similar circumstances.

Forums generally are filled with rants, that's why football fans use the bloody things. Fact is, they sold out their ground in next to no time. The vast majority of which are highly likely to be Bournemouth supporters. Why can't people just accept that?

If you want to go down the I told you so route, this experiment has proven to be a success already. Expect more big teams to come to England for their preseason and ticket prices to raise to more absurd levels.

I'm not so sure - this match is being heavily subsidised by Bournemouth and presumably by Maxim Demin their part-owner. If they want to play matches like this and take a hefty loss then it's their choice. Outside of the Premiership I doubt this is an experiment that you'll see repeated, or at least not very often.

Looks like the new stand is ready then.

2,000 extras? They'll never sell them.
  • I noticed that Leicester are playing Monaco next week, i bet they weren't cheap to get over here either.

Most tickets for that are on sale at £15.

We'll have to wait and see. They've shown that people are willing to pay excessive amounts to watch european superstars in friendlies. If I was a chairman I would take note, although I think the real winners here are Real Madrid.

They are basing themselves here for the day I'm told (they've told all their normal gym & spa members to bugger off for the day). I expect the local rag will be staking the place out for a picture of Ronaldo in his budgie smugglers.

Harry's place is about 4 houses to the left.

    Oh I see, sorry !
  • Would be just our luck for Simon Francis to play a blinder against Ronaldo and earn a 12.5 million move to Madrid.

Ha! Francis taking to the field at the Bernabéu dressed in blanco

Would you pay £10 for a DVD of Charlton losing 6-0 to Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly?
