BTW, if Chris was trying to make a point to the powers that be, then I am curious as to how the message would get through, were any of them there?

too be honest public messages, to the board just are not going to work. they either just cant afford, or just cant be bothered too help powelly out. look at all of our frustrations this pre season and times that by 100 and you may get close to how scp is feeling. i feel desperately sorry for him. how long can he take see this continuos snubbing from above!!?

What exactly was the formation? How were the midfield set up? I take it that it wasn't just a flat 5?

4-1-4-1, with Gower sitting in front of the centre backs; Jacko and Stephens in front of Gower; Harriott and Pritchard pushing up along the flanks; Kermorgant as the lone CF.

ICT matched up, played man-for-man, and stopped us playing too easily. The passing was too slow to move them about, too many players received the ball facing the wrong way and were forced into negative passes. It looked like possession football to set up the forward pass, but there was often no end product. Tippy Tappy nonsense. Kermorgant can't play as the lone striker, he needs to play off a partner.
There was no hold up play until Pigott came on. He held it up three times and we created chances, including Kermits right foot volley from a free kick won by Pigott.

Public messages, by definition, are to the public as well as the board. But this approach seemed to have some success for him in the case of Cedric Evina.

I'd have gone but I quite often use the BBC football site as the "fixture list" and it hadn't listed this friendly. :( Knew it was coming up too!

Back home. Very poor. I wasn't expecting much but that was God awful. No cohesion to our play, lack of penetration, lack of width on the right. Did not mind starting with Kermy alone up top but expected Stephens, Jacko and Gower to at least support him but they didn't. I disagree that we can start with Piggott next week. On the bench maybe to come on for ten minutes at the end but to start? Not for me. No one stood out and no one was actually awful but we failed to create much at all. There was a lack of energy about our play too. Only a PSF though but on that performance it ain't looking great.

Shame for Colin there wasn't a bigger turnout but I think there are other things planned for his testimonial ,so hopefully he'll get some return .
Hope the Red hand Card gang had and continue to have a good one down in the smoke

    0% top 6 ..... 15% 7th-12th ..... 75% 13th-21st ..... 10% bottom 3

As respected as Colin Powell is, ICT aren't a big draw and the lack of new signings also hampered the attendance, IMO.

Do us all a favour Oohaah , drop the percentages this season .
  • Thought Stephens did a great job of finding space....when ICT had the ball.
Thought Stephens did a great job of passing...to no one
Thoughts Stephens did a great job of tackling...once.

I know it is only a pre-season but we really need to get rid, he is not interested and nor should we be.

Just got home after an afternoon in the circle suite. Never done that sort of thing before but enjoyed every minute of it. Friendly staff, nice food, drinks flowing, can thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

Don't need to talk about the game though.

Just got back, what a boring game.

Don't like the midfield trio of Jackson, Gower & Stephens, it just didn't seem to work, no pace & no real defending midfielder. Also playing that system with Kermy as the only forward meant at times we had 6 in midfield as he came short so many times.

That system might work but with different players.

It could be a long hard season unless we get 3 or 4 in.
  • Harmless percentages for a bit of fun.

They don't bother me and i can't for the life of me think why they would bother anyone else.

Right saying the attendance was a disgrace when you weren't even there is abit hypercritical. Also Dale Stephens IMO is bar Yann our best player. He doesn't need criticism but confidence which should start from the management and then
    the fans.

As he is ours I so want to believe in Dale, he can get a spectacular goal it's true, but I simply don't get it.

is it his set piece play?
    tackling?
    pace?
    dribbling?
    passing?
    covering?
    heading?
    or whatever.

I need educating here, what has he got that is above the average?

I would rather try Jordan Cousins, or even Andy Hughes.

Good grief! Talk about doom and gloom! It was a bloody friendly!! Start getting yourselves in a pickle if things are this bad after 10 games or so! Sorry, remind me where CAFC finished last season on such thread bare finances and resources? Wow, god us help us when things get really bad eh?
