Colin Powell Testimonial Match

He has potential to have potential.seth plum said:As he is ours I so want to believe in Dale, he can get a spectacular goal it's true, but I simply don't get it.
is it his set piece play?
tackling?
pace?
dribbling?
passing?
covering?
heading?
or whatever.
I need educating here, what has he got that is above the average?
I would rather try Jordan Cousins, or even Andy Hughes.
Potential, potential, potential.
Just keep saying potential for two years and it justifies his place in the team.0 -
What I want to know is, did anyone meet red_card?0

Will do , I understand I'm a bit boring/tedious but I try to aBedsaddick said:

At least make the percentages realistic - how can we be 0% to finish in the top six? 15% is closer to the mark and the bookies agree.0
-
with 1 forward 0% is pretty realistic, sign a couple and that will rise0
-
So, which League 1 teams are you guys most looking forward to re-visiting next season?0
-
The probability that the sun doesn't come up tomorrow is 0%. The probability that Charlton finish in merely the top quartile of the Championship isn't.Mike said:with 1 forward 0% is pretty realistic, sign a couple and that will rise
We could well be taken over in September and spend £5m in the January window for example.

Credit where it's due: Dale can take a very good corner kick.seth plum said:As he is ours I so want to believe in Dale, he can get a spectacular goal it's true, but I simply don't get it.

He's got ability on the ball: a decent 1st touch, capable of picking a good pass and a great strike on occasion.
We've seen him be the hub of a fluid midfield, when he keeps the ball moving quickly.
But we don't see him consistently do that often enough.
He could be a very good CM - but a part of the jigsaw seems to be missing.
Over to you Dale?

Sounds like one of golfie's dates!LargeAddick said:Back home. No cohesion to our play, lack of penetration, lack of width on the right.

It looks like not taking the money for Stephens from Villa is TJ's second biggest mistake when it comes to his time at Charlton. The first being getting involved in the first place.0

Perhaps he should improve the complexity of the algorithm from which he devises his percentages which I'm sure no doubt already takes up a fair bit of wall space.newyorkaddick said:

Is the game going to be uploaded onto Cafc Player or anything as would quite like to see it? Not for the football I'll add!!0

Oi, no need for that !!LoOkOuT said:

For what its worth, I don't know what all the fuss is about. Thought the whole team played well, outplayed ICT and were just unlucky not to score with the 3 efforts we had all game. Hope we play like that all season long..............0 -
A 1-0 loss to the biggest name in British soccer (26 characters) isn't so bad.0

Pretty turgid stuff really. Kermorgant didn't have enough support. Stephens didn't seem to contribute much. Solly was pushed to an area that seemed to be out of his comfort zone. Jackson and Kermorgant tried but, in the end, created nothing. You could see YK getting quite frustrated in the end. Here's hoping he gets a decent strike partner soon.
On the positive side, I met Colin Powell briefly after the game. Very nice bloke, was busy thanking people for coming. We should have been thanking him.0 -
Where do most of Charlton's attacks come from/start? Wing play id say- Harriot, Wiggins, Solly, Pritchard (Wilson, Green). Otherwise long balls from, quite often, Ben Hamer! Dale is a "Scholes inspired" creative central midfielder in a team (from what ive seen) that rarely plays it through the middle. I don't feel he'll ever look consistently "right" in the current regimental, but effective Charlton set up.seth plum said:As he is ours I so want to believe in Dale, he can get a spectacular goal it's true, but I simply don't get it.

we had a great timeoohaahmortimer said:Shame for Colin there wasn't a bigger turnout but I think there are other things planned for his testimonial ,so hopefully he'll get some return .
Hope the RedhandCard gang had and continue to have a good one down in the smoke
0% top 6 ..... 15% 7th-12th ..... 75% 13th-21st ..... 10% bottom 3

Very good, Golfie. Make that about your best - certainly most positive - ever post on here. Roll on the season proper...golfaddick said:

Feel mighty sorry for SCP right now. Getting the most out of a decent set of lads, with jack funds it would appear to play with. God forbid Kermie picks up a knock. Thought the team played some decent passing football today at 70%.0

Gower lost the ball 3-4 times with poor passing in the first half.Pico said:Really impressed with Gower. Can't remember him misplacing a pass (long or short) all game. I really wanted Stephens to shine, but he just couldn't impose himself.
The defence played the ball nicely amongst themselves but bar a couple of crosses from harriott everyone looked poor.

I was really impressed with Dervite. Brought the ball out of defence a few times and looked really comfortable with it at his feet.0

A week before the season kicks off and we have no No.9 and no No.10 at the club. I'm worried and it was poor all over the pitch.NathanPrior said:Stop moaning people, it's only a friendly, christ.

Just been reading Bournemouth fans views on their pre season game vs Bristol City, they also need a striker and their game was also poor0

That's one way of looking at it. An alternative is that we just got beaten at home by a team that had had a very long trip and whose usual home gate is merely a couple of hundred more than the League Two average. The Red Robin said:Before anyone goes over the top ICT have finished in the top six of the SPL two years in a row now and ended last season in 4th.
