Sordell & Church

We are all so pleased to welcome these two young men to the Valley. Both are the right age, have good pedigrees yet have something to prove.
Chris Powell has done it again with two superb pieces of business to settle many nerves and to prevent a lot of sleepless nights.
Our promotion ambitions are now well under way.
I feel sorry for young Pigott and Azeez, but their day will come.

Come on you Addicks!! and I say again, a BIG welcome to Super Simon and Marvellous Marvin

  • What do people think the front line will look like now? I expect Yann and Sordell will be first choice, though I hope that does not mean we will just lump the ball to Yann to look for the flick on.

If he goes on a goal drought will he be Starvin Marvin?

If he scores a couple of goals will he have put the opposition to the Sord?

with Sordell and Harriott we have a fair amount of what's been lacking for ages .. pace. Kermorgant will get more space as defenders will be wary of Sordell and Harriott .. I'm still in awe of the business to get Sordell on loan .. he was playing for GB at the Olympics this time last year.
  • Yann and sordell first choice. Decent options on the bench if we can add ric.

would like to see it into yann's feet.

If this lot hit it off i think we could do really, really well this season.
  • Welcome to Charlton Simon and Marvin.

All we need now are songs for you.

Something by Hank Marvin for the latter?

this must give the rest of the squad confidence, doubly so Yann who will not have to do it all on his own.

just in time for Saturday as well.

Reckon they'd be involved in the saturday game? Can see Church being involved as he's been with us longer.
  • Sordell is perfect to play with Yann, very very happy with this.

I would argue more of a case for Sordell as he has had a full pre season.

Will we start 4-5-1 or make a late change to 4-4-2 (assuming training has been planned around the former)? Strangely, I think 4-5-1 may be better suited for an away game to a team that will be up for it from the start. But we will see.

as mentioned on another post .. a big thanks to the board for financing these deals .. if no news is good news they can keep their plans under the hat for as long as they like so long as they produce a few rabbits as good as these from time to time .. thanks to the board and management for signing a couple of terrific strikers.

  • Very good news as Lincs said both at the right age, Sir Chris must have seen something in Simon Church to offer a 2 year contract .

    Both would be nice.

  • i think obika sordell church and kerm would be a brilliant 4 man strike force one that would give us a great chance of getting the play offs

My thoughts exactly , would give Church time to get fit/ bed in, how many goals do you think Sordell and Church will score for Charlton this season?

I am literally wetting myself with the thought of these two playing up front for Charlton this season.

    Saturday can't come soon enough!

    Great comment by Powelly:

“If I worried about what other players have done at other clubs I wouldn’t have half my squad.

“Yann’s experience at Leicester to what he has done here, Michael Morrison what he done at Sheffield Wednesday to what he has done here, I could keep going.

“It is what they do here and I what I say to them and what they want to do."

    Welcome, Simon and Marvin.
