Charlton: Petterson, Brown (Nicholls 50 (Lisbie 77)), Konchesky, K Jones, Rufus, Balmer, Newton, Kinsella, Robinson (Chapple 82), Mendonca, S Jones.

Oxford: Whitehead, Massey, M Ford (Gray 41), Robinson, Purse, Gilchrist, B Ford, Smith, Banger (Aldridge 56), Jemson, Beauchamp. Unused sub: Wilsterman.

Referee: C T Finch (Bury St Edmunds)

Penalty awarded against Petterson for pulling down Gray.

Youngest: Debutant Paul Konchesky became the youngest ever Charlton player at senior level at 16 years and 93 days.

    I remember that game well.

    it was bloody boiling, and Lisbie's goal was a cracker - admittedly he had loads of time after being put through right at the death as they were chasing an equaliser, but buried it into the far corner with a bit of venom. I remember thinking: "this lad's a decent finisher" LOL

    As it turned out, the goal was invaluable, cos Skippy gave away a stupid pen about thirty seconds afterward.

    My first game as a season ticket holder. Remember clives and Lisbies goals very well. I cannot remember the penalty at all though

    I was a 10 year old mascot for this game and was in awe of my favourite player, Sweaty Balmer and got to walk out with him and have a kick about with the players. The start of a great season.
