Nice story from the Leicester game

Stewards generally get bad press (often deserved), but worth highlighting this great work. Well done chaps

sad times when fightfighters have to supplement their earnings as stewards. However, well done to them and a speedy recovery to John.

Have they had pay cuts ?

  • Three weeks before the derby and there are already blokes from Millwall in the home stands.

    Well done Clinton and Steve.
  • Clinton is a Charlton boy and an Addicks fan. I think I am safe to say his "stewarding" at Charlton is not motivated by money. He is a senior officer in the Fire Brigade, does a fair bit of official work at Charlton and is a supporter as well as an all-round decent bloke.

and, I beleive that Steve Nolan is the brother of Kevin Nolan of the CAFC reporting fame.

    Well done to both!

Leave off. Firemen have regulalry had "other" jobs going back for years. Their shift patterns have historically meant it's easy to do things like cabbing, window cleaning - and I guess stewarding - when they're "off".

It's well known and accepted. Even if they earnt £100k a year basic then I daresay some would still do extra work to keep themselves busy and/or earn extra dough.

Well done to the pair of them. Surprised nothing was put on the official site thanking them for their efforts.
  • great story and a fine piece of professional and community action from them,

the only sad bit was the club representative saying the chairman says thanks, it should have just been all at the club say thanks , if not then I am sure the chairman could've sent a personal thanks but its not about cafc its the actions of these 2 men
  • Steve Nolan is Kev's son, brother of our very own Nolly, lifelong Addicks fan and a bloody nice bloke...
  • Ah, Kev's son, not brother - oops.

Cmon NLA a message from the chairman is a message on behalf of the club, that's what a chairman is, a mouthpiece for the club. Sounds like your saying he was wrong by speaking on behalf of the club and wrong by not speaking just for himself and no one else. Regardless of what opinion we may hold on MS, not sure what he's done wrong in this situation. For all we know there may be other private messages being sent.

Mention for the guys and presentation to crowd on match day must be a possibility. As you say NLA it's about these two guys and I'm sure they are bigger than worrying about the etiquette of how they receive recognition, and will probably just appreciate the fact it has been given.

no mate it says a spokesman thanked them from the chairman

The club's doctor congratulated the firefighters on their work and a representative from Charlton called the pair to say the chairman wanted to pass on his thanks.

like i said imo it should've just said that a representive from the club passed on thanks from cafc , not read above, it makes slater sound un involved

i aint digging him out its the quote i have issue with
  • Good luck to him and his family, everybody who helped keep this family together deserve the highest praise.

Steve is indeed Kevins son, and an absolute top bloke. Steve has worked at the Valley for years, and to help to save a persons life is magnificent, knowing Steve he won't see it as any more than doing his job. I believe Steves little one is flying the nest this coming weekend, so I'm pretty sure he will make Boro away which is close to the Uni of Durham.
  • Wonderful story - thanks for posting AFKA

During the 90's I was a steward for the club for a few seasons and it certainly wasn't for financial reasons.

Well done to both of these guys for their prompt actions and good luck to John, hope you're feeling better and we'll see you back at the valley soon..............

I have the pleasure of working with Steve at Old Kent Road and will definitely pass on your thanks. He is indeed a fantastic bloke, and it's great that he and Clinton could use some of their skills acquired with the brigade to benefit John. I wish him a very speedy recovery.
