Depends when you were born. I remember Weds was always normal day until late in the season and if you had a lot of postponements or a cup run you'd play Sat/Tues/Thurs/Sat for a couple of weeksRed_Pete in Dubai said:

There are no spare Saturdays for the cup the FA assumes that all clubs outside the EPL will be like Charlton and be knocked out in the third round.
The cup dates and our league fixtures are as follows:-
Third Round Proper Saturday 4 January 2014
Fourth Round Proper Saturday 25 January 2014 - Home to Bournemouth
Fifth Round Proper Saturday 15 February 2014 - Away to Leeds
Sixth Round Proper Saturday 8 March 2014 - Home to Watford
Semi Final Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 April 2014 - Away to Brighton0
