don't need Gordon0

Ebanks blake broke his leg at the beginning of April so even if that has mended he still has to get match fit.
Gordon was a free agent when we signed Alnwick
Slater "transfers" £1m a month into the Club already. He told me so himself so we must be awash with money.0 -
Not sure what Ebanks-blake would bring us. We don't give any service to our current strikers, so why would having one more make this any different?0

So you'd sign a player who left his last club because of a persistent knee injury that prevented him from playing and would prefer him over two fit and uninjured players? The Red Robin said:
Thankfully fans don't select teams or buy players.

according to Wiki, Gordon's salary at Sunderland was over £2million a year .. no wonder he was let go .. Hamer is a great and very brave shot stopper, however his distribution is getting worse by the game and slows us down, as I said on another post, he's the new Johnnie Wilkinson, great 60 yard touch finders .. Gordon would be expensive but right now Hamer could do with some r&r, Alnwick is no Gordon Banks .. IF we can afford Gordon .. get him .. It is a very BIG BIG IF though.
Ebanks-Blake .. injured and now probably overweight and would take ages to get properly fit and motivated .. a poor man's Fuller .. 4 years ago he was one of the best, alas today his best is well behind him0 -
We need to sort midfield. Not waste money on another goalkeeper and striker.....repeat to fade0
-
Heard that Norwich are looking to loan out Becchio....not a chance in hell0

Thank God! What do those fans know eh? Imagine if they dared to offer their comment on a football forum?!BlackForestReds said:

When / if fit he's a far superior keeper than anyone we've had since Scott Carson. Big IF though.0 -
Ebanks-Blake scored 15 goals in 40 appearances last season for an atrocious Wolves side. I would definitely take him.
Craig Gordon isn't very good.0 -

He last started a match in April 2012 and seems to have not played much for a couple of seasons prior to that date due to some long running knee injury problems. Since being released he seems to have had a couple of trials here and there and mostly been involved in coaching, so I would imagine that he considers that his playing career is over bar some team taking a massive punt on him recovering both fitness and form.
There's no point signing players who are carrying long-term career threatening injuries. I can imagine the complaints here if we'd signed him and he sat in the physio's room while soaking up much needed money that could/should be spent on strengthening other areas of the squad. A non-starter.

Disagree as we don't ever use our midfield why not play 5-0-5 and just hoof it upgrumpyaddick said:

Sort out a decent centre midfielder first please.0
-
Disagree. Target man for me. If the ball doesn't stick up front the midfield can't get forward.0
-
Unless the midfield support each other, pass to each other and move forward. Madness, I know, but it works for Barcelona.0

Gordon was one of the best keepers I've ever seen play, but he is just about as brittle as a very brittle thing.0

I didn't realise he did so well last year .. shame about the nasty injurydabos said:Ebanks-Blake scored 15 goals in 40 appearances last season for an atrocious Wolves side. I would definitely take him.

That's part of it but even passing teams have players up front that can hold up the ball. The higher you go the more players can do, and the better the team are at keeping the ball on the floor.Vincenzo said:Unless the midfield support each other, pass to each other and move forward. If our defenders are closed down heavily sometimes they'll have to go long. It'll only come straight back to the opposition if we don't have a striker that can handle that.0 -
Thanks Scoham, you just have a knack of explaining things so well.0
