Swansea or Cardiff. Which type of club would you like us to be?

Interview with the Swansea chairman here, on the eve of the derby.

And here is the one about the Cardiff chairman, who has put £125m into the club.

At the end Swansea' Huw Jenkins says that no other club directors have visited to find out how Swansea do things (they turned a profit of 14m last year). However lots of supporters trusts have been down there, I was privileged to be one of the most recent, and am writing up what I found for the next Trust News.

I don't think there are many Football supporters of clubs outside the top 6 who don't admire how Swansea are run on and off the pitch.

Just been reading some very interesting BTL comments under the Cardiff article, about Vincent Tan.

Their chairman clearly has a great talent for picking out a promising manager. Not sure who they had before Martinez, but he and Rodgers both left for supposedly bigger opportunities, and I can't see Laudrup leaving for any reason other than a bigger job. Not many clubs have gone as long as they have without needing to sack someone for under achieving.

There's no comparison really, is there?
  • Got a lot of respect for Swansea as a club. Play decent football too.

Swansea are exemplary in the way they operate. Cardiff are everything I dislike about football.

Also watching the recent BBC documentary about Swansea, I was struck by how brave it was to agree with Martinez that they would get out of League One playing a passing game (poor old Parky tried it and bottled it before Christmas), and then when Martinez left, to insist to future managers that this is now the Swansea way to play, and they too had to sign up to it. I can't think of another modern club where that has been done.

    Cardiff
  • I believe the manager before Martinez who imo was the first to lay the right foundations was Kenny Jackett. He is a good manager who leaves every club in a stronger position to that he found it and pretty sure Wolves will be the same.

  • 'I think no club – Cardiff included – should underestimate what the voice of supporters can do,' says the Swansea chairman

Without a doubt the answer is Swansea play a fantastic type of football and unlike Cardiff the people in charge love the club and would not consider changing the colours
  • As the title above Swansea or Cardiff.
My answer is neither we are Charlton both of the welsh clubs hit division 4 before the rise to the top flight,i just want my old Charlton back .run by people who have Charlton running through there blood.Do not have any interest what division we play football in if Charlton is in your blood you will watch them play any football.
Charlton should be run for the fans and by fans of Charlton.

27k there, the atmosphere reminds me of the old crazy red hot Charlton v Fulham battles in the Prem.
