interesting piece, not sure about the relevance of the bit about the Valley, I guess time will tell.
lets hope the grass is greener on the other side0 -
New development at the Peninsular would require social housing. Makes project less attractive ? Build social housing element of project on Valley site. Job done.queensland_addick said:Why would land comprising the Valley, be more valuable than land a couple of miles up the road at the Peninsular? Then the expense of constructing a new stadium has to be factored in. Would it really make economic sense to move us from the Valley to a new ground just up the road?

at last a decent takeover thread.0

Exactly, we have a modern premier quality stadium already, just rebuild the Jimmy seed stand to form a complete bowl shape and were done.queensland_addick said:Why would land comprising the Valley, be more valuable than land a couple of miles up the road at the Peninsular? Now we know why there is a 21 Year BackTo The Valley Dinner rather than 25...0
-
Property Company says bad news to me.
I don't want to move from The Valley yet again.
IF we had to move (and please please god don't let it be true) then the conditions for me would be:
In the Borough with a station 2 minutes away, good other transport links FROM THE TRADITIONAL AREAS OF SUPPORT and lots of available parking within 10 minutes walk, mainly free!
A stadium designed for football, no running track and so on, with a German Style safe standing area, and a capacity of 35,000 and seats like Brighton's! The actual stadium design should be quirky, anachronistic, distinctive, unusual and obviously US, even when seen on the telly.
Acoustic experts are employed so home areas are enhanced, or at least the sound doesn't escape as it does now, the away area in a corner.
Concourses, toilets etc are better than the best, and include a corralled smoking cages just outside the stadium, but linked, for those who want to smoke.
Home made vegetarian pies no more than £2.50!
All Valley memorabilia to be transferred, including flagstones and Addicks place.
The garden of remembrance to be gently and respectfully dug up. and moved specially to an area in the stadium in sight of the pitch, the earth and ashes ceremonially resettled.
Sam's Statue to be moved there obviously.
The above is just for starters.
Or stay at the Valley!0 -
Too small for Champions League football.CAFCTrev said:

Sounds like the club have released a press release on the dinner and it's found a way in on the last sentence. Wouldn't read any more into that bit.roseandcrown said:
did think that as well. Is this some sort of warning re property company?AFKABartram said:One thing you can determine from the article is this is not just a speculative piece with the author picking up on a whisper. This has definitely been fed to him (and interestingly once again its the SLP).
Not sure how the 'Charlton have been back at The Valley 21 years next month' fits into it.0 -
Buckle up everyone - I think a bumpy ride is on its way.0

That pic....... in my lifetime please!!!!

None of the conditions seem unrealistic or undoable. Sharing with Palace was a step too far and made us yearn for the Valley, but a number of clubs have moved without too many problems - Millwall, Man City, Arsenal, Derby, reading, Southampton, Middlesborough, Brighton, Stoke........ - the list goes on! If it is our ground and ticks the boxes, many listed by Seth, I won't oppose it!0
-
thought something was going on due to the silence by quiet a few members regarding rumours recently. Controlled leak obviously but property investment company rings alarm bells. Would be great if they had at least a bit more money than jiminez (read as: anything)0

only on Charlton Life people have been praying that TJ & MS go, now something is on the cards, people are pooing themselves about the motives. Chill out, I've heard it's yanks anyway not British

Well the last property company that took us over, provided enough funds for us to get promoted.
This new lot do the same then once in the Prem, incoming money goes a long way.0 -
seems like they like powell and will back him, that can only be a good thing.0
-
If this goes through you would have to look at MS and TJ rain here as successful, Got us promoted and handover to someone else in a much healthy position.
i don't know enough/anything about reasons people lost their jobs etc so cant include that.0 -
The seats are too red - I like the bleached version we have now.CAFCTrev said:

Change ? Boo0 -
Heard not British also.0

I wonder what Greenwich Council's role is in all of this...? Hmnnn0
-
The cost of a new stadium makes no sense to me today given that many parts of the Valley are only 10 years old and must have a lot of useful life left in them before there are any significant refurbishment requirements. Add the fact that the club is losing £5-5.5M per annum without serious squad investment and a move looks unlikely. But the picture might change over time, particularly if we regain Premier League status.
The Valley is relevant seeing as it always appears to be property people showing an interest but I don't see how the numbers stack up?
I assume that the current owners will sell at a premium to what they paid Richard Murray and recover the loans they have injected to date - lets see what happens0 -
Property and land.. Last we had lanera sponsers they went tits up.. Its a risky world unless by property its earl of westmister who owns knightsbridge and other mega rich areas...0
-
I've heard it all before, so many times.
SLP will get it right one day for sure.
I dont like property companies owning football clubs, they have a tendancy to want to build on anything green.

Could be worse they might be from the CO-OP bank----------nothing to be sniffed at mind------------oi oi0
