What odds would I get on...

    Curbs return
    Move to another area

And could I do all three?

I know naff all about betting.

Dead cert according to most posts on here!

Ground share with Palarse/Smallwall/West Spam/Orient and a new housing development in SE7 ;-)

we're all moving to the Olympic stadium ...5-team sharing arrangement ...we play on Wednesdays.
So if we were renamed Charlton Wednesday, would that make us massive?

  • 212 posts since I last looked. Not one piece of information. The CL takeover thread is back, just like it never went away.

Have to agree. But I suppose it's harmless enough and certainly preferable to that embarassing ''Boardroom Watch" thread, from which not a single combatant emerged with their integrity intact...
this, if nothing else it has led to a reduction in faction fighting on here.

Wow this thread has moved on quickly!

From what I've read a few observations:

    1. For those who don't like property developers as owners, would you prefer human traffickers, drug lords or ex KGB robber barons? As always it's all about willing buyers and willing sellers and sod any fit & proper criteria.

    2. The secured hard debt mentioned in SLP looks about right to me - the conditional debt of RM and co is in there but the soft debt of the current owners are reflected in their asking price which must have been downgraded particularly after TJ's courtroom disappointments.

    3. Nationality of potential purchasers - now well and truly irrelevant as we live in a truly global market place and money has no boundaries.

    4. CAFC and all clubs are now potentially tradable securities and although us fans are the only true stakeholders we (at present trust guys ;-) have no say whatsoever as to who owns us, there motivation etc other than refusing to buy tickets and withdraw our financial support. It didn't happen at United and it sure won't happen at CAFC.

    5. Move out of VFR and off to the Peninsula. The Lord only knows what the strategic plans are of the potential new owners but we will not be consulted. At this time I am open to discussion as I see great benefits in the right circumstances (Amex) and huge pitfalls too (Ryko).

    6. The future of club employees - the remarks made in SLP article (ghosted by Cawley I assume) can possibly be interpreted as a green light for the gaffer. However I do believe that TJ & Co announced their support to Parky so like all employees in a results business he stays if he meets targets and he goes if he doesn't. No objections here as that's the way of the commercial world.

    7. Someone wondered as to what RM has to say on the subject. I would have thought that it would be something in the order of "hope the potential owners get us promoted in double quick time do that I can get my wonga ASAP!"

So we will wait to see if the purchase completes; who they are/or who their stooges and front men are; what their declared plans are; and what players come and go.

If they are similar to the current owners then we will be none the wiser and who knows we could be traded on in a few years time!

  • Exciting news!

    I hope for the best

I can't help wonder how guys come to the conclusion that we might move away from the Valley if a takeover is imminent - I can't really see any things in the article pointing towards it, or maybe am I missing something?

  • Would be happy if it's owners similar to Derby's American ones. Seem to run them in a sensible way.

Tremlett did a good job last time we were in the colony, taking good wickets at Perth and Melbourne.

    Snippet from today's Sun;
Charlton are at the centre of takeover rumours from a London-based property tycoon. Must have some mileage then :0)

Such a shame they are British/American, I was really looking forward to standing outside the valley with a tea towel on my head for the sky cameras.

Nope, too old and need my sleep too much to watch the whole lot. Get up about 5 and tend to stay up towards the end of each test.

(Bugger even on reading your comment I didn't twig, stupid brain)

Well now you can stand outside the valley with a couple of pillows stuffed up your shirt and a big camera round your neck.

If we are leaving the Valley then where are we going, Ebbsfleet. First up I do not believe in this take over, second even if it did happen no reason to leave the valley given are crowds. Also the cost and time to build a new stadium, will not be offset by turning the valley into flats. We are not in the ubber wealthy parts of London, so only moderate London house prices to be expected in charlton at best.

You can get a lot of £300,000 flats on a football ground.
