Charlton are at the centre of takeover rumours from a London-based property tycoon. Must have some mileage then :0)

He is indeed but as Michael Slater is only staying on for three months then I doubt it's him buying out our Tone.lancashire lad said:

Something missed from the original article: we got through due diligence. That's a first and worth celebrating isn't it?
Also, say's a London based property developer, which doesn't of course rule out that he/she is an American citizen.0 -
Meet the new boss .....0

When I consider all the energy expended on this thread over the last 48 hours I know that if it could be properly harnessed, Britain would again become great.0

I wonder what that means in this instance?queensland_addick said:Something missed from the original article: we got through due diligence. That's a first and worth celebrating isn't it?

Having slept on it, I am reminded of something Richard Murray said a few years ago , don't believe everything you read in the papers, which I'm sure we've all heard before.
Whilst scant on details, this piece is meant to string the fans along with the notion that the board are trying / close to selling up, if it all goes belly up in a few weeks time, it really doesn't matter, makes we wonder how much truth their is in any of this.
Just out of interest how excited were people leading up to the current regimes takeover last time round, and look whats happened since then...0 -

If that is really the purpose of the article, why would Slater tell fans the club is not for sale?Mendonca In Asdas said:

Great things have happened, MS and TJ took over with the club (apparently) facing administration and languishing in League One. We finished last season 3 points outside of the play-offs with a much stronger squad and manager. If the next owners achieve the same level of progress I'm not sure how anyone can complain.0 -
MIA,
Just out of interest how excited were people leading up to the current regimes takeover last time round, and look whats happened since then...
Employed a good manager.
Improved the team.
Won the division we were in by a mile with 101 points
Finished a brilliant 9th in our first season in the higher division.
Yeah i would hate for it all to happen again.0 -
if it went so well why sell? just saying0

Has any new development happened yet in the last 2 minutes? No? Why not in this day and golden age of information! Powell out!0

I want the owners to sell as its obvious they want out. But its not been all bad.razil said:if it went so well why sell? just saying
If they can sell to a good set of people i think history will dictate MS/TJ's short reign a mild success.
Notice i used 'IF'.0 -
bit more than a mild success I reckon, for the reasons you stated above.0
-
I'm walking around with my right arm in a sling, thought I'd better practise 'the look'.0
-
If they put us in safe hands then that in my opinion would be the best thing they ever done for us. Its vital we go to the right people.Elthamaddick said:bit more than a mild success I reckon, for the reasons you stated above.
Otherwise the work could be undone in one season.0 - Sponsored links:

Sounds like you are selling your soul, surely anything that could be for the better should be applauded? What if waltham abbey or enfield town where promised a better future if they moved/changed, would you stop supporting them and watching your mates boy?nth london addick said:My honest thoughts are that unfortunately in the not so distant future we will not be playing at the valley in floyd rd
For that reason I pick and choose what I spend my time doing and now its mainly the knowledge and I go to non league football watching my mates boy at waltham abbey and enfield town
Then the wrench and decision will not be as changing to my football rountine
I won't go to a new home ground I would not want too I would go away games if I fancied but I soon would stop that also
I would still be very much a fan but it would receive zero of my money due to it selling its soul
How others choose to support would have no impact on my life and I would never judge nor expect to be judged on my choice or anyone elses
Be like being a fan on a banning order

Just heard from a mate that it's Donald Trump. You heard it here first. ;-)0

More chance of Donald Duck, Trump is a shrewd investor and would stay well away from footballAbsurdistan said:Just heard from a mate that it's Donald Trump. You heard it here first. ;-)

Want to get excited by this but after a few false dawns I think its best to wait until its on the OS.0
-
trump is pretty much broke, the only reason he's still living in luxury is the brand he's created for himself. He's filed for bankruptcy four times. Not the actions of a shrewd investor.eaststandmike said:

Having said that it better not be him.0 -

A one bed flat is up for £365k in Woolwich - and not even the Royal Arsenal - how many flats can you get on the Valley?msomerton said:If we are leaving the Valley then where are we going, Ebbsfleet. First up I do not believe in this take over, second even if it did happen no reason to leave the valley given are crowds. Also the cost and time to build a new stadium, will not be offset by turning the valley into flats. We are not in the ubber wealthy parts of London, so only moderate London house prices to be expected in charlton at best.
A one bed flat in the middle of Woolwich is beyond a piss take by the way.

It could be owed to whoever the owners are or the companies through which the ownership is structured or it may not be debt (i.e. loans) at all the funds might have been introduced to the business by issuing shares.razil said:http://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/49033/takeover#latest
Think it the debt to the bank for the north stand had to by £1m a year, but others could probably confirm that
the other debt not mentioned would have grown one assumes
We'll never know cos we'll never get to see the detailed accounts of whichever company might actually hold the controlling interest. Either way the "owners" put the money in at risk of not getting some or indeed any of it back.
None of which means anything very much until the point at which they might decide to stop paying the bills and thereby lose the whole lot.
The alternative to the MJ & Spanish Tony ride was administration, relegation to League 2, hoping somebody else picked up the even less viable 4th division operation and starting from there.
The current lot are not without fault clearly but there's been an awful lot of noise from fantasists with very short memories all the while we still get to watch 'our' Charlton in division 2 - not that bad really is it..?
