In Defence, Derby play a flat Back Four with Keogh at Right Centre Back and Buxton left Centre Back. Wisdom (on loan from Liverpool) is at Right Back and Forsyth at Left Back.
The Back Four as a unit play a tight line midway inside the half, but make no attempt to play close together, with the full backs playing wide making no attempt to tuck inside, leaving space in between each defender for opponents to make runs through and in behind. Ideal for Church.
Whilst Wisdom is strong at Right Back, we can get at Forsyth at Left Back, especially as Dawkins is weak at covering the space in front. As Solly is back, that's also ideal, as he can run off Dawkins and overload the left back area in 2 v 1 situations.
Eustace at Centre Midfield, is also not particularly quick at covering the space in front of the Derby B4, allowing time and space to play through and into. Ideal for Stephens to collect and play Church through a vulnerable B4.
As a team, Derby try to play a quick passing style through midfield, however Keogh, Buxton and Forsyth were all weak in possession and Mis-directed a number of in-accurate passes when put under quick pressure. If we can close them down quickly and force them to play long we can stifle their pattern of play.
Every team has weaknesses. Will that do for starters?9 -
Always enjoy your tactical analysis, Tutt Tutt. And Im glad that what you've seen of Derby gives some very slight cause for optimism. Wy do you think other teams in the last five games have all lost to them? I suppose then that the line up could see Church up front on his own and a five man midfield that closes down Derby's midfield quickly?0

and at this point Alex Dyer will instruct SCP to go for it, citing that 'attack is the best form of defence' and we will drag off a midfielder and defender and stick on two strikers and then go on to comfortably win the game 5-0
