Since when did varney have enough money to buy a club
He may have been involved with a group and if so I don't see how TJ and Co were in a postition towards the end to turn down any offer
These guys regardless of opinion are succesful business men and I am 99.9 percent sure that first and foremost money is the primary objective

I doubt it - they had a go at the riches- lost the investment they needed and sold off when they knew they were reaching the point of no return IMO.0

If they are serious then they can always buy out Roland. Don't hold your breath though. Unless TJ would not sell to a PV cosortium and Roland was sent in just for that purpose.0

I think its more the other way around, PV didnt want TJ and co to get a penny from them. Well thats a childish way to go about business then, surely he would have been better buying the club and sticking two fingers up at TJ by taking us to the Premier league from the mess we have been left in.0 -

From what I have picked up the club has been for sale since last May. Our high finish encouraged the owners to put too high a price on the deal at that time. Once that fell over anyone could have started negotiations to buy the club - the earlier this happened the quicker stability could be brought to the club and this season could have been saved.nth london addick said:

I have absolutely no idea why the Philadelphia bid did not go through (but I'm fairly sure that ACV was not the reason AFKA) but at that time it was blatantly obvious that the price had come down. The owners wanted out before they had to start pouring more money in to fund the second half of the season.
I am sure there were some waiting in the wings for the price to come down still further or even for CAFC to go into administration.
Right now it really doesn't matter who was thinking about bidding. We have new owners and CAFC as a club is tradeable. Perhaps now we can focus on results on the pitch and trust that the new owners can improve the squad in time for next August.

There was another bid which fell over at DD stage late in December. I was informed about this in private conversation with another Lifer over a period of several weeks. Looking at what Angeldust wrote, it would appear to be this bid that he was referring to. However the Lifer never suggested that Varney was involved, even after I went back and asked him. Angeldust's words encouraged speculation that it was Varney and that's the only source of such rumours as far as I'm aware.
I believe Airman is referring to something else which never got as far as a formal bid.
If you are selling your house in financial distress there is a point where you just go with the firm offer you have on the table, even if some new viewer has turned up in a huge Merc1 -
