Should be interesting for those with doubts about Powell's tactical prowess:

"We'll be talking tactics with Chris Powell, John Collins and Jonathan Wilson on Monday night's show."

Unfortunately being in located in Denmark means I won't get to see the show. Would be great if some lifers could summarise on this thread afterwards.
  • Does anyone if its live or not though?

Talking about how he prefers to play two up front...if possible.

A big fan of 3-5-2 if he's got versaitle players at the back and good wing backs.
  • Tuned in hoping to hear something interesting about the takeover and all I get is a game of backgammon.

Ideal formation is a 4-4-2 than can switch to a 4-3-3.

Likes playing a back four with high full-backs and overlapping wingers. Ideally he'd like three in midfield but also loves playing wingers.

Has been forced to play Yann in the hole as a number 10 with a forward making runs ahead of him.

Against Brighton he asked Yann and Church to alternate this role and drop into midfield and pressure Briductt and their midfield.
  • I'm sure many managers would dream of going from 442 to 443........;-)

    He talks a good game

Impressive isn't he? If you're enjoying the discussion you might try Wilson's book, "Inverting the Pyramid". I found it a bit dry, but its a real tour de force of tactics through the ages and fascinating in parts.
  • Powell comes across well I think as someone who knows what he is talking about. Would be interesting to see one or two of the loud mouth boo boys get into a discussion with him. I think I know who'd come out on top.

Geezer in the middle is pretty switched on, Powelly and Collins are kind of stating the obvious quite a bit
