The British record for postponements for a single fixture not surprising is for a match in the 'Arctic' north of the country. The Scottish Cup 2nd Round tie between Inverness Thistle and Falkirk was scheduled for 6th January 1979. However after 29 postponements it was finally played on February 22nd 1979. Falkirk won 4-0 in the 30th attempt to stage the match. Three days later Falkirk lost 1-0 at Dundee in the first attempt to stage the Third Round tie!2

Whenever wherever this match is played CAFC need to play the strongest team possible as a win would bring in £70,000 pize money, which could be ring fenced to be spent on the pitch in the summer if by some miraicle we beat Huddersfield a further £90,000 would be added.2

From that picture alone (it's difficult to judge from pictures admittedly, you really need to walk on the surface), I don't think it looks unsafe or unplayable. It looks muddy.se9addick said:

Ive played matches on a sunday where the ref had to stop the game to pick up dog shit, im sure they can play on thatGillis said:

Apparently the north east corner is the worst part of the pitch, but I haven't seen any pics/video footage of that part of the pitch - anyone know what state it's in ?Gillis said:

It looked worse than for the Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday games. Since the dome was covering the pitch for all of last week, does this indicate that water is coming up from below?0

I don't think so, but a contributor on this thread has repeated several times that the dome was definitely still protecting the pitch when rain fell on Friday night.charente addick said:

The pitch is beyond repair, we can keep saying 'it looks ok', 'I've seen worse' but in all seriousness it is diabolical. If it were any other club we'd be ripping them to shreds. God knows what they are going to do to sort this mess out

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't it. I would of thought so. the water is right below and seeping upwards through the soil causing mud. the water table cos of lack of drainage is probably very close to surface.

Last season we replaced a big chunk of turf in both goal areas in the winter, can't we identify where the drainage problem is - dig a hole - at least pump the water that is there out, fill it in with dry soil most suitable for absorbing water, then replace with new turf where the hole/s were dug?0
