the worry is that it will pass, start raining as the game starts and will be abandoned at half time.

The good thing, is the weather looks alright between now and Bournemouth/FA Cup 4th round day, so there is hope the pitch will get dryer in the next few weeks

I'm planning on going, as I live in Maze Hill and can leave it until about 7pm before I have to make a move. Have a feeling this could be our lowest attendance in many a year.

Depends what you mean by attendance. I'd imagine quite a few ticket holders won't turn up in this situation and they'll still count unless they physically return their tickets to the club for a refund before the game, which won't be practical for many.
  • Maybe I am the only odd one, but I was not planning on going but with Barnsley called off I am desperate for a football fix so will now be going to this if it is on! I am also hoping to see a healthy dose of kids playing as I enjoy that! Glutten for punishment I guess..

    This for exactly same reason.

  • If it's on and that's a big if?
Can't see more than 2500/3000 at most
I don't no any one that is now planning to go?

Forget all the periphery pitch issues and our desperately woeful historical record in the competition, at the end of the day it is Charlton at The Valley in the FA Cup and a representative of the AFKA household shall be in attendance.

I just need to rig the draw so it is not me :-)

The rain is torrential down here in Oggyland; it would be a whiteout if it was snowing.

And it's coming your way, folks!

There still needs to be one tomorrow IMO.

As far as I see it, this just means that it is "on for now".

This. Also, if there is any more rain between now & tomorrow night, even though we have a cover over the pitch, wont help the local water table.

thank the dog didn't have a piss then , he would have flooded all surrounding areas but there is a smell near the covered end so he may have had a dump!

Game on for sure then, as he can do the worm and will have tested the soil underneath.
  • No point having an inspection today when there's loads of rain forecast overnight. Why not just do the inspection at lunchtime tomorrow before Oxford fans have to travel

For all concerned I hope that they do have another pitch inspection tomorrow lunchtime, by the official official, just to be sure.

No, but if it is clear at this point that it won't be playable, they are best announcing now. i'm sure if the weather changes in the next 24hrs there will be another consideration.

In fairness the club and team need to know asap as well. If it were off now then it changes our entire matchday approach; another days training for the team, catering cancelled, more time to work on the pitch, stewarding cancelled, etc, etc.

I would be amazed if theres not a furtehr inspection tomorrow as well though.
