he's talking a lot of sense .. off field happenings should not affect players ... take over has settled things down .. lots of praise for Chris Powell .. team needs 'refreshing' after two good seasons

Just turned it on. Sounded like a real plea to keep Powell there...he may say things have settled down, but feels like there's a lot of uncertainty bubbling around.

Mind you his team mates are going to absolutely rip him. He can handle it!

good stuff .. he knows his onions .. still seems to have a very soft spot for Leeds .. REALLY seems to fancy Leicester for the title/promotion .. a very tidy & eloquent all round performance from Andy Hughes .. CAFC going to M'Boro by train ? .. I think he said that

Better than Robert Rob Lee, whom I just happened to come across on BT Sport saying not a lot.

Rob Lee and Alan Shearer, best mates. Best Mates who should only be able to colour there own personal TV rooms.
  • Think Andy Hughes is going to be a major influence both on and off the pitch these coming weeks in terms of keeping morale and team bonding at a level to obtain the results needed to get us safe. He will be a heavily relied upon cog in SCP's wheel to keep the spirit up and gel the new lads. Maybe only cameo appearances on the pitch when things need tightening up but will be valuable nonetheless.

He made a generous and telling contribution to the U21's on a dreary Friday afternoon at Millwalls academy last week. Not travelling with the team to Huddersfield as Lennon and Poyet were, but shifting his body around the pitch as best he could, prompting and encouraging.
An utterly selfless professional performance from Andy on that occasion. If he can learn the managerial/coaching game he may go far. I can't imagine him opening a pub, selling insurance, or spending the rest of his life on a golf course, Andy Hughes will stay in football I feel certain about that.

The thing I adore about this man is professionalism has barely had a sniff of a game this year but he just gives his all every time. He is relentless in warming up and his banter amongst the players is an essential part of our teams make up

No doubt in my mind as to exactly why Andy Hughes was given a new contract last summer.

  • Top man and professional, would love to see the club find him a position within the coaching set up at the club.
  • He was on the train to Leeds on Saturday, seemed to be in a rush though!

I was only told this by a mate so I'm not saying it happened but it wouldn't surprise me.

Before the Ipswich home game the players came in from their warmup and Powell sat them down with a DVD to re-affirm some key points, what runs to look for, where space might be left, etc. Preparing to start his speech he put the DVD on and instead of Ipswich's recent games there was Andy Hughes sat naked in the gym, lifting weights and doing a running commentary, laboured groans and all.

It's probably a complete myth but the thought of it really made me laugh when I heard it.

Imagine Hughesy in the coaching staff.

Whenever someone showed any talent or potential he'd be sending them off to Leeds telling them how great it is.
