100 reasons that Chris Powell is the best manager for CAFC
Comments
-
1-100 Because given the right support from the club he would have built on what he delivered 2 seasons ago and we would likely be challenging at the top of this league not languishing near the bottom. Whatever happens as a result of today's game and the recent shenanigans the man still has my complete support. He has let none of us down.10
-
This thread is truly sickening - it's football, a results game, all managers know the way it is. CP might be the best bloke in the world but we're 3rd bottom, scoring too few goals, playing fairly poorly, defending too deep etc - remember, the past is no guide to the future. The next manager will have the fans support when it's working and he won't when it isn't.2
-
Fully agree with you bigandy. Nobody else would get this much loving for the results he is getting. We have won 5 in 27. Yet some believe this will suddenly turn around next week, with no reasoning. Sheff weds have upped their form after change of boss, so have sunderland and palarse. About time we took the plunge and said thank you very much but theres the door!1

Reason 101 - Powell is dog shit
Reason 102 - Powell is tactically inept
Reason 103 - Powell has no clue
Reason 104 - Ianbse9 has said it from the first day he was given the job-3 -
Truly sickening eh Andy?
My apologies for turning your delicate stomach but our opinions on this subject happen to differ.
I wish you a speedy recovery.5 -

Most of his 'tools' were purchased for League One. He might have some more options since yesterday, but we also had the heart ripped from our midfield and it's not been replaced.cafc999 said:
Except we don't have time for the long game. Look, I badly want the guy to succeed but the stats from the last dozen games do not lie. Be honest, are you happy with the way the team are playing under him at the moment?Eynsfordaddick said:
Perhaps people should look at the long game then. Chris Powell is a motivator and galvaniser, he will shape this team but needs time!cafc999 said:

You are right, but we live for now and as it stands we are in the bottom 3 with hardly any strengthening.
I just wish he would be more confident and play a bit more attacking football instead of 90 mins of defending and 2 shots per match
Last season we at least played or tried to play some football, this year with the basically the same team we are not. Ok he can only work with the tools that he is giveN, but most of the tools are his. In my honest opinion, CP has lost his mojo, he needs to find it quickly
Ian Liddle on Twitter spoke very highly about today's game and was highly complimentary of what Powell nearly pulled off, against a team that was playing in the Prem last year and has retained many of those players.
We have the right man for the job for 100 reasons and more. We'll only see just how good a tactician he can be when he has the right tools for the job - and the only time we gave him those he smashed 13 all time records.1 -
He makes substitutions that can change a game!!!!!!!!!1
-
He clutches defeat from the jaws of a win that's a top man in my book1
-
Which is why it's good to debate our feelings - I don't want the turmoil surrounding a change any more than you do but, surely, you can't be happy? Today, for the first time, I'm up for a change - the team needs fresh ideas3blokes said:Truly sickening eh Andy?

No one wants to lose a game when we were 1-0 up, especially at the moment.
And yes the recent results have been poor.
But my belief is that overall Powelly has not been given the chance to bring in players of his choice to build on what he achieved when we won League 1.
I think he has done remarkably well with a League 1 squad, and the players have shown that with a stronger squad we might be doing a whole lot better.
But I fear Andy the debate may be redundant, because I can't see Powell surviving or wishing to stay much longer. I get the feeling that is where this is heading.
I personally feel that is a HUGE loss to this club.
Time will tell.

99. When we reach the conference i belive he will be the right man to take us back to the football league.
100. He brought Dyer in as a coach who although couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo in his playing days he is Chrissy m8 so we must Like him too.3 -
What I would like you to consider, though, is the style we play and the tactics we employ - this has nothing to do with budgets - it may be a huge loss and, as you say, time will tell but, we don't have time! He isn't improving - and it's costing us most weeks.3blokes said:No one wants to lose a game when we were 1-0 up, especially at the moment.

Anyone else thinking this may soon be irrelevant? No comments from CP after the game still, can anyone remember how long this usually takes? Maybe there are other things going on.......0

Hello? You just called a thread about a football manager on a message board 'sickening'. I suspect you've been a tool for longer than one evening.BigAndyCAFC said:

It's message made me feel sick, so I felt it was sickening - it was also embarrassing and unnecessary.Uboat said:

Them League 1 players were bought because he thought they could cut it in the championship. They did last year but not this. As I said earlier, he appears to have lost his mojo and I really do hope he finds it very quick. I for one couldn't think of anyone better to manage us at the moment, but no one man is bigger than the clubrikofold said:

All this SCP is wrong. Who officially gave the title of SIR1
-
Not apparently. I am, but fans are what make football clubs and I pay my money just like everyone else does which means that I'm entitled to my opinion which. Sadly that is it's time for a change. Powell has never been given money to improve this squad but we can't wait until he is because if we carry on at the rate we have been going we will be in league two with 0 expendable cash. It's all about the now and saving what we have, I don't care if he is or isn't the right man I just want the man who will save us from falling through the leagues. Before you all start, I have no idea who that "man" is but anything out there must be better than what we have at the moment.seth plum said:

How I see it, Chris Powell is no longer Charlton manager. He is now Head Coach. He doesn't have a say in who comes in or who leaves. He's basically told "This is what you've got to work with, now get on with it"...............0

But I think you are wrong when you say ANYTHING out there would be better. I don't think Dave Jones would be better for example, and he is an 'anything out there' isn't he?
