i've come to the conclussion work makes me sad Charlton makeme happy!
working shifts is a nightmare at times, when you cant get to the game cos of work. Im off for the brummys im off for queer park rangers, but i wanna go to hillsbourough for the cup game, trouble is im working, so, throw a sicky and go or not ? have you ever?

Yup, many years ago, ManU in the cup, away mid-week during the 70's ...ended up having to have two days off as train got back so late...and got away with it.
Unfortunately we lost 5-11 -
I pulled one for the fixture that got called off at Walsall a few years ago. I then called in to say I was feeling better and was treated like a hero when walking in.13

Did at school for a midweek away game with a mate. Clearly didn't go about it very well as when we drew with Sheffield a United at home on a Sunday over at Upton Park, Monday morning the headmaster come into our class just to remind me and my mate there would be no sickness, doctors or dentist appointment on the day of the replay !1

I pulled a half day sickie (dentist) to go and get tickets for the M'boro cup game.
I was on the telly that evening (BBC local news) queuing up at the box office for all to see.

Yes, many years ago when we were away at West Ham on a Saturday. With a late shift looming, commencing 2pm, I rang in sick on the morning of the game. Was spotted after the game by a work colleague who, having done an early shift, was aware of my 'illness'. Asked if I was feeling better, I mumbled that I'd perked up a bit since midday. Gulp.1

my mate and me went to hudderfield 2 weeks ago for the cup game.he was signed off on the sick because he had a scratch on his eyeball and could not see and was in lots of pain (so he said )but like a twatttttttttttttt he put photos on his facebook of the day.his boss his friend on facebook.1

Someone I knew got sacked after pulling a sickie for the Carlisle away game in 86. Was on the back page of the slp with Lennie Lawrence on his shoulders on the pitch after the game.3

Got a mate to call in and say I'd been taken to hospital on the day playoff final tickets went on sale. That day was an absolute scorcher and the queues were really long; end result I went back to work after supposedly spending the day in hospital with a lovely sunburnt look3

I pulled a few sickies after a game... Kevin lisbies hatrick against Liverpool! Think that was a Sunday?? My boss dryly asked me if it was a dodgy pie.

I saw a very prominent member of this site giving it his all at chesterfield away with a scarf covering his face! He looked like a complete terrorist but he told us it was because he was supposed to be at work!2

Everton away long time ago on a Monday in Div1 when we lost 3-2. Mortimer scored a corker and I think Lee scored the other as we nearly snatched a draw. Strangely I went into work the next day which seems a waste and everybody asked me how was the game. Never mention your team to those you work with!!0

I was in trouble anyway as me and @shag and @1905 moved across to your side of the away end and We were making "come on then" gestures to the home fans whilst Ian was buying a bovril (he was driving).
When he came back to us with his bovril he turned to me and said "b... Why are all those blokes mouthing off at us?"1 -
Had three days off for a 'family funeral up in Yorkshire' so could visit my mate at Nottingham university and take in notts county game.1

I think it was lol. Was a good night out specially with him trying to hide every time the cameras looked at us. It was those gobby lot infront of the stand next to us wasn't it lol1

Sheffield Wednesday in the cup at the valley. I'd started a new job working shifts a foots cray. I asked everyone if they would swap with me, no one would. So that left me to take a sickie. A colleague called my house during the game and asked to speak to me. I was rumbled. My boss who was a good bloke. Spoken to me on the Monday and I came clean. However the colleague who called me carried on trying to stich me up at every opportunity, she was not a nice lady! Eventually I secured a new job and resigned with immediate effect, she called me at home after I had finished there to ask where I was, I took great pleasure in informing her id resigned. It was worth it as we played brilliantly beating Sheffield Wednesday 2 nil with morts and grant scoring I think.0

Once persuaded my parents to let me have a day off school to go to Hereford away, most probably about 1974. While waiting for the coach at Woolwich one of my teachers walked up to me and said "what are you doing here" I told him the truth and said I was going to football. He replied "Thats good so am I, dont tell anyone"

back in my office days I pulled a sickie but still went to a night game at the valley. my 'mate' who I worked with also worked on the CCTV at the Valley and took a still of me sitting in my usual seat, printed it off and I found it stuck on my desk when I got in next day. everyone including my boss saw it1

Pulled a sickie for the Blackburn game in the Prem. Talal free kick in the last minute at home. Big win. I got ill afterwards.....0
