The worry for you is if land in London is continually increasing, will Greenwich council seek a similar deal? Not sure whether you own the freehold or not though. Looks like we may be getting pushed out.0

Anyone find this incredibly ironic considering the lansdowne mews = we're leaving the valley debacle.Henry Irving said:Seems a big leap from selling some land to ground sharing with us.

The story behind it is, we have long leases on several parcels of land surrounding the Den. It appears that for a few years now the club have been engaging with the council to discuss us developing the land so we can generate more income to make us more sustainable.kentaddick said:

In the meantime, since 2004, Renewal Group, have been buying plots of land elsewhere on the site through other subsidiaries and have since submitted a planning application. For this to succeed they needed other areas of land which Lewisham produced CPO's for so the overall scheme can be implemented.
It appears Renewal may also want to use the land that we currently lease from Lewisham and last week Lewisham have agreed to sell this land to Renewal, so they are our new landlords, whilst our plans for the land have been discarded.
Interestingly, David Sullivan, an ex-Labour Lewisham council leader is the head of the Renewal New company buying the land, from a Labour run council without others seemingly being able to bid on the land.
The reason Charlton fans should be worried is if we go, you may find Millwall FC pitching up in Kent!!0 -
Can I be the first to recommend Gillingham. Similar size support when the bandwagon isn't running and similar supporter profile.Sparrows Lane Lion said:The worry for you is if land in London is continually increasing, will Greenwich council seek a similar deal? Then palace could come in on it too, leading to an amalgamation and one big 'super 'club!TellyTubby said:

Maybe Millwall could move back to the other side of the river and share with their good friends at West Ham at their brand spanking new stadium? I'm sure all 8,000 Den supporters could fit in by the corner flag.0

The 2nd picture is the best. Notice the three little scamps wandering around with brand new flags because the feckers have fluked it to Wembley again and their dads used to know Harry the Dog so they are Spanners for a day...0 -
Isle Of Dogs plenty of room --------------------go home to East London where you belong.3

Ground share with the Orient?
Book a pitch on Blackheath?
Excecise yard at Brixton so you can all go?
Only trying to help.2 -
Millwall will always attract the nutters and Charlton the decent fans. Kent's full of both.Sparrows Lane Lion said:

Millwall chairman, John Berylson: “If these land sales go through, they will put the long-term future of the Club at risk because it will mean non-football assets that we hold in our leases will be surrendered to a property developer. We have the long-term interests of the Club and the community in mind. Renewal does not. Lewisham Council must be urged to think again.”
Here's an article about the situation:

no need for that.

What's ironic about all this is that the original plans for that area by Surrey Canal Road and the incinerator and dump was to redevelop it and make it a new residential quarter with sport being one of the drivers. Sullivan was responsible for Lewisham council sponsoring Millwall ages ago and is allegedly a supporter, even though he's originally from up north.
I'm surprised that there hasn't been more of a fuss made of this, TBH. Mind you, in my view local govt round here would be more honest if we just voted for property developers and cut out the middle man.2 -

You won't be surprised to learn that directors from Renewal are also directors for the Sports Foundation.

Sparrows I and a lot of the old boys would welcome you to the New Valley if we have to have one. I for one would go to Millwall home games when we are away. The only problem I have is it bad enough losing to our little cousin at home once a season but twice?Sparrows Lane Lion said:

London Borough of Lewisham and Royal Borough of Greenwich collusion ? Nice bit of land on the peninsula so I'm told.0

The regeneration / gentrification of SE London and how this might affect both Charlton and Millwall should not go unnoticed by supporters of either club. It may be sensible for the CAS Trust to seek a dialogue with the Lions Trust, so that, mutually, we may safeguard our common interests.1
