This team could keep us up

  • There were a number of positives from yesterday and with some of the injured players returning it points to an improved squad being available quite soon. The big problem is that Lady Luck seems to have deserted us at the moment, and that needs to change pronto.

Based on current long term injuries...

    Hamer
    Wilson - Morrison - Wood - Wiggins
    Cousins - Poyet - Ajdarevic - Reza
    Church - Pete

Really want to see Reza out on the wing, reckon he could do a job there

Reza wide - but only in a 4-3-3
  • I did mean dervite

    -----------Hamer
    Solly - Morro - Wood - Wiggy
    ------Cousins - Poyet
    Reza ----- Astrit ----- *LOAN*
    ---------Parzyszek

    Looks good to me though

This. Perhaps Harriott on the left if there's no alternative.

Subs: Pope, Wilson, Dervite, Lennon, Jackson, Green/Harriott, Church

Nowhere to be seen: Thurham, Sordell, Evina
  • We seemed to play with a different style and a bit more purpose. It wasn't fantastic but it was OK and on another day we would have won.

My real concern is that there is not long for it to work. I felt there was better to come too and that we didn't look like a bottom three side, yet, of course, we got beaten by a very ordinary side. It couldn't stop myself thinking that it was a side that could win League 1 next season, but it may well not work out that way. Getting out of the bottom three is going to need some untidy wins and some 'blood and thunder' performances. It just seems such a shame we are in the position we are.
  • Why all this disdain for Thuram? Prefer Hamer over him? Are you serious? I've been impressed by Thuram starting attacks by releasing the ball to he midfielders quickly, none of this running to the edge of the penalty box, looking right and left quickly and then a loooong pause making sure that the oppo back four and midfield are back in place before using Route one to Yann which is the trademark of Hamer! Are you serious?!
  • i think its a case of hamer becoming a better keeper since hes been out, when hes back in no doubt there will be numerous threads saying hes shite

    Ideally 4-4-2 with everyone available:

    Hamer

    Solly Morro Wood Wiggins

    Wilson Cousins Astrit New

    Reza Polish Pete

    Or 3-5-2

    Hamer

    Morro Dervite Wood

    Wilson Cousins Astrit New Wiggins

    Reza Polish Pete

Desperately need some freshness in midfield, Astrit may be Dale's replacement but we have not had anyone to replace Cameron Stewart.

Absolutely agree. People have made up their minds that he's rubbish and are not able to see the evidence in front of them. His distribution, in particular, was the best I've seen for a long time. Now it may be that time will prove that he is no good but to see that he was no good yesterday is just wilful blindness to the facts.

Hopefully Wiggins and Hamer back very soon but I sense Solly cannot be counted on for the big games coming up. So is it Wilson, Nego or a.n.other at right back? What can the club do to get last seasons Harriott back or do we bring someone in to replace Stewart?
I liked the look of Adjarovic, Poyet and Cousins in midfield - perhaps Tutt -Tutt or someone can explain how we can build on that...always allowing for the pitch.
I think the bench will be very important when it comes to two forwards but will be interested to see Reza and Piotr.
Next Saturday an ideal opportunity to get this lot to gel - I really wonder whether RD can sign the final loan players to turn this around?
  • ------------Hamer/thuram
    -----Morro --Cousins---Wood
    Wilson----------------------Wiggins
    -------poyet----cousins-----
    ------------Astrit----------
    ---------Reza---Parzyszek

Totally agree with this but assume you mean Dervite at CB
You haven't heard of the cunning plan to clone Cousins ?

  • A winger should be the priority in the loan window but I think Harriott should be given another run in the team again. I didn't go to the game but it seems Poyet/Astrit seemed to help us keep possession better but we were lacking an outlet and I think Calum is the best we have. At his age he isn't going to be a consistent game winner but I think he'd at least scare teams more than we are currently doing. Don't think we'd get the best out of Piotr with the diamond shape.

All these teams with one thing missing? Jackson! You know SCP will not leave him out
  • I think every team picked on this thread highlights Powell's problem. A lack of fit players, too many central midfielders and no width.
  • Is Hamer really injured?

And if so what is it , and how long is he out for?

This for me although I would probably play Reza wide instead of either Harriot or Wilson.

I'd be happy with this though agree @cfgs that i would put in Reza for Harriott or Wilson. We looks like we have a decent team on paper they just need to perform on the day. The new signings look promising. If we can get that win soon i think we will go on a run.
