Leon Best, Johnny Williams & Luciano Becchio

I agree with you that we need more creativity in the midfield but I still reckon we could do with both becchio and best tbh I'd take anyone atm if Roland is willing to pay.flyingkiwiDK said:
Yes! As useless as they may be its not like we are creating a lot of chances for our strikers at the moment is it? We need to rectify that first in my opinion.Dannoo_86 said:
Lol church and sordell really??flyingkiwiDK said:
We already have Church, Sordell, PP and Raza. I would have thought a speedy winger/creative midfielder should take priority. The Red Robin said:SkyBet Championship @Transfer_News24 30m
Charlton want to sign Blackburn striker Leon Best on loan. #cafc #brfc0 -
He is a good player and don't think we got a player like him who will give a defender a tough time and bit of a fight but like many people are saying right wing and left wing are priority , not worried about a creative mid because I think adjeravic will do that job and already has an assist from Wigan away.Goonerhater said:Why do we want Leon Best ?

Williams: Yes Please.
SWP: Yes if we only pay about 20% of the wages.
Becchio: Yes please.
Leon Best: I'd take him but I'd rather Becchio.

These are the three most likely loan signings with Roland holding the purse strings:
Jonny Nobody
Nobby Notcoming
& Marcel Diddly-Squat5 -
We've just signed 2 strikers, do we really need 2 more? As ever, the problem is creativity and getting decent service to our strikers. Adding another couple of strikers to the squad doesn't solve that problem.0

Just what we need for a relegation scrap, hasn't played in 4 months and his scoring record is pony...................Sordell must be happy, someone worse than him.0 -
I'm not sure who it is but whoever keeps looking at strikers needs a long hard look at themselves. Midfields run games and we need to strengthen ours up before anything else.
If we're happy with our goalkeeper and our new strikers, then midfield is where we need to look, and then after that defence. A hard working, honest grafter in midfield with Championship experience, old or young would do the world of good.1 -
Not great but a physical presence.1
-
Personally would take Williams as a priority from those. Unless we can send Sordell back to Bolton (in which case we'll end up with 3 strikers) then our focus should be strengthening central midfield (Cousins, AA, poss Poyet ...) and out wide.0
-
A fit & motivated L Best would be a boon .. BUT .. I fear that he has become yet another unfit, injury prone, demotivated, wage packet picker upper
Williams ? .. yes please, tricky, brave and skilful either central or wide midfield (a mini John Robinson?)
Becchio ? .. errrrrrr .... see Best0 -

Be very surprised if Norwich city allow Becchio to go out on loan. He's very much a bench warmer for them and with their very poor goal scoring record I think Chris Houghton would have big problems with their fans if Becchio was allowed to leave.
We moan about Sordell, but Norwich citys Van Wolfswinkle makes Sordell look a very good player and they paid about 12 million for him.0 -
Like nearly every Charlton fan im hoping for creative MF first and would love Becchio but i would take Best to, as has the feel of the sort of player Chris can get back playing to his ability IMO.
Im not sure i want SWP, just feels like the sort of signing we made the last time we got relegated but if somehow he does end up here, i will be praying im wrong.0 -
we need experience proven strikers (ie people who have scored goals at this level before)
becchio would be an improvement on what we have0 -
Becchio yes but no chance
SMP yes but no chance
Bst no thanks enough up front doing feck all.
mid field yes please someone who knows the shit we are in and has seen it before.0 -
@BelgoFoot: 'Le Soir' reporting that serious buyer is ready to pay 50 million euros for Standard Liege, twice what Duchatelet paid. He wants 60m. #cafc

I get the bit about cousins CM if we could get a decent RB/wingback like wiggo on the other side it will solve some of the distribution probs without losing his bite in cm, I would take swp and bechio but not best, although out the of the 3 I bet we get best0
-
I can see a case for signing Becchio - proven consistent scorer at this level. Best - another sub-standard goal-shy striker is not what we need. What's the point in bringing in Polish Pete if he's behind the likes of Best for a place?0
-
we need players i'd take the lot.0
-
Maybe, and this is just a GUESS, that CP has looked at Polish Pete and feels he isn't ready for Championship/Position we're in. I hope this isn't the case, cos that should have been thought about prior to buying him. It would explain however why we might be looking at someone like Leon Best. Agree with others that a playmaker type midfielder and pacy LW needed0

''Maybe, and this is just a GUESS, that CP has looked at Polish Pete and feels he isn't ready for Championship''.
I wonder if CP thought that about Michael Smith and sold him, if so doesn't make sense to me buying another
player the same?0 -

I doubt CP had anything to do with buying Polish Pete. On the other hand Leon Best has the mark of a CP forward loan deal stamped all over itMelrose said:Maybe, and this is just a GUESS, that CP has looked at Polish Pete and feels he isn't ready for Championship/Position we're in. More of a replacement for Yann, both Best (and Becchio) offer something different to our current strikers.1

Yer it does! another shit loan signing.eaststandmike said:

I caught the Bournemouth v Blackburn game this season and Best gave the Bournemouth defence a torrid time. You look at our strikers and what we lack is a physical presence. Not sure what he's done since that game (it was at end of September) but there's definitely a player in there.0

Best used to be a top striker in this division ( hence why Newcastle bought him when they run away with the league ) but since then injuries have seemingly derailed him and blackburn have moved on.
Becchio would be a very good signing, unlucky at Norwich to an extent that they buy him in Jan then go and splash on some top quality in the summer which leaves him in the lurch.
SWP just seems past it to me. we do need a winger though so I guess he's better than nothing.
Williams I know very little other than he's played for Wales a handful of times, liked down at Palace.0 -
We definitely need a striker!
PP is more for next season (whatever league that may be in).
Reza still adjusting to life here.
Church has had his chance and not quite got enough.
Sordell not the type you need in a scrap.0 -
Becchio would be a great addition, scores goals and gives it his all.
This Williams is very highly rated at Palarse, and we need a winger.0 -
Becchio would be the ideal Yann replacement.0
-
Williams and Becchio would be ideal.
Leon Best is a decent player and à step from marv and simon. Can not believe how snobby some of our fans are. WE ARE UTTER SHIT AND WE NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET.4
