Standard Liege will probably win the Belgian league, Champions league next year. It won't get any better for RD, so it's time to sell. I think this is good news for Charlton. There will be money to spent on players wich he will do. RD is no fool and relegation is pure horror for him.0

All that said, I'm not against him at all. I'm grateful he has rescued us from the threat of administration and think the sale of Standard Leige could be very beneficial to us!1 -

First of all, the news site above doesn't seem to check anything :
- the riot from the Standard supporters was in june/july, not in september
- not at any stage was/is Standard in financial danger
- they say the higher expenses brought anger to the supporters, this wasn't the case, in fact there were 2 reasons : Rednic was sacked and the opposite than mentioned : he didn't bring players in fast enough.RD in fat calmed it down in buying De Camargo and Carcela, which were both quite expensive
- there is a possibility of a bid (in fact there is expected there will be 2), but it's also expected that RD won't sell

I fully disagree with that (although I'm also Belgian), and I wouldn't be bothered a single moment if RD took over the team I support6 -

The so called "fears" concerning their (SL) financial position is the 20€mn RD seems to have removed off the clubs balance sheet for "investment" purposes.
I have little knowledge of the financial complexities of the RD empire (as I suspect will be the case with the average Belgian football supporter) but the latest reports of his financial status put his personal worth in the region of 750€mn. How much of such assessment is tied into the value of his companies I have no idea.
That does not mean he is going to spend his "wealth" indiscriminately on sundry football interests, but equally it is highly unlikely he is going to allow such interests to even approach damaging his and his companies financial reputation.

Perhaps we can have a new takeover thread every time there is a rumour about one of Roland's clubs?
Just to say the three best meals I have ever eaten were in Belgium, the beers there are a revelation and the Ardennes region is stunning. Ghent is also well worth a trip. I look forward to our pre- Season friendly in Liege.

Ive done business in Belgium and I have to say of all the easy foreign trips when I lived in Kent, Belgium was probably the most frequently visited.....friendly people, beautiful medieval architecture in Ghent and Brugge in particular, great steaks and wonderful beer....We spent a memorable weekend for our 50th Birthdays..its the only time my Mrs has seen me even remotely drunk....I blame the Leffe Bruin myself.0

Don't pin your hopes on Roland lashing out on players, if you read everything that we now know about him that is not the way he does build his business. I do however expect him to aim to get our Academy up to top level.0

I think a massive thank you is in order. Bought in players from Liege who played a part in keeping us up, got rid of a much loved legend and inserted his own man. And it only went and worked! We were told he would make unpopular decisions that would be proved right and that's exactly what happened.2

I think Roland may well turn out to be the lucky owner we've been craving.By lucky,I mean football lucky.

Saved us in January, not sure MS + TJ would've been able to keep us ticking along until February, let alone July.
Without the loans + Liege players we'd have been suffering massively with these games every 3 days.3 -
Congrats, nice to see some kind words said about a man who would appear to want to make us a stable club based around the academy, the same academy that Wilson,Solly,Harriott,Cousins,Poyet,Fox,Pigott all of whom played tonight. If we can get some quality in to help improve these players then the only way is up surely?0

For me, it comes back to the "Is Roland just right" thread. I'll never agree with the selling Yann or sacking CP decisions but we've stayed up, which was ultimately the goal, so you can't say he was wrong. Now there's every chance we'll crack on next season, with promising youth and a few quality signings hopefully, a new pitch, cheaper tickets, actually asking fans what they would like to improve the match day experience....
So, I may not like everything you do but so far you've been, well, "right".
