Can only see one of tudgay or adjsrevic stsrting. Very nervous about this one, may lose to a late goal 1-0

Had Sheffield United not been on such a good run i'd feel a lot more confident.

Hoping for a 2-1 win at the death.

Sheff Utd v Charlton (12:45 GMT, FA Cup)

Bramall Lane will be rocking and I really fancy United to continue their impressive run

I will be at Bramall Lane to watch this tie on Sunday. The ground will be rocking and I really fancy Sheffield United to continue their impressive run.
The League One side have now won eight on the trot and Nigel Clough is clearly doing a decent job as manager.
Charlton's form has picked up a little bit of late but they are still in the Championship relegation zone.
United will be thinking they can beat anyone and, having beaten Aston Villa, Fulham and Nottingham Forest, this will be another scalp for them.
    Lawro's prediction: 1-0
    Woody's prediction: 2-3

PLEASE remember the older fans who can't stand for 90 minutes.

I'd like to reiterate this. As someone who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, I find it difficult to stand all through the match. I had to do this at Bournemouth in the first game this season because everyone in our section was standing and it really did my knees in. Please consider others, especially when we cannot move seats as we usually can at away games. Don't want to spoil anyone's fun - just want people to remember that not everyone has 18 year old joints!

Sheff Utd are on a good run of form at the moment. Hopefully, if Chris gets it into the players heads to not take it lightly we'll be too much for them. I'm going 0-1 to us.

I reckon Tudgay will start and that we will play 4-5-1, Harriot and Jackson wide.

  • Can't decide between 2-3, 3-4 or 4-5. So will be having a few quid on a drab 0-0.

Is he good enough, more to the point...

Would be sorely tempted to start with no conventional central striker, put AA up top but with Tudgay & Harriott making a front 3.

I think CP will go for the 4-5-1 that did the job at Wendies but that worries me, because both Church and Harriott played well that evening and that just doesn't happen very often. The chances of lightning striking twice are slim and I think we will struggle against one of the best form teams in the whole league. ! would go 4-5-1 to keep it tight, with Church wide left instead of Harriott, breaking forward to link with Tudgay playing as the lone striker. Reza on the bench.

I think we'll do well to get a draw. 1-1.
  • For my generation, the FA cup hasn't meant a lot. I love watching the draw and do look forward to 3rd round day, but that's more because of how excited everyone else seems to get. Setanta/BT Sport/TV coverage in general/PL games the same day/final in Cardiff, have all contributed to make it a bit of a non-event. It's nice seeing all the old clips in pre-match footage about how the FA cup used to be and players commenting how much they loved the cup as a boy. It's a shame, but the magic of the cup has never played a part for me...until now.

I am absolutely buzzing for Sunday and the cup has never meant more. I am desperate to win and will be deverstated if we blow it. I guess this is what people talk about the magic of the cup, we've had such a shite year and this is a brilliant distraction. Praying for a win Sunday

Wasn't going to go, but miraculously a mate has come good and sorted me a ticket. Absolutely buzzing for it already!

Our fans will be loud and up for it, and that will pass on to our players.

I am strangely optimistic, and back us for a 2-0 win! Goals from the skipper (Pen) and Reza late on

    COYA!
  • It's amazing to see the different mindset of you lads to us. Personally I couldn't be more relaxed and I think most blades feel the same.

Every round so far has seemed like a bonus. Win on Sunday and we'll be ecstatic, lose and of course we'll be disappointed but I don't think in any way devastated.

I think it helps that we've managed to take the pressure of ourselves a bit in the league though.

Sundays a game we can enjoy. We're buzzing but not nervous, or at least we fans aren't. I think our players will have the same attitude as us and therefore be a lot more relaxed than your lads.

I quite fancy a Blades win tbh. Whatever happens here's to a fantastic occasion for everybody!
  • OPTA FACTS
Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic have been drawn together three times before in the FA Cup with the Blades winning all three times, once after a replay (P4 W3 D1 L0).

Sheffield United have already knocked out three teams from higher divisions; Aston Villa (Round 3) and Fulham (Round 4) from the Premier League and Nottingham Forest (Round 5) from the Championship.

Chris Porter of Sheffield United has scored four goals in six FA Cup appearances this season.
Porter has netted just five goals in his 21 appearances this season in League One.

Prior to this season, the Blades had won none of their previous eight FA Cup matches against teams from a higher division (W0 D2 L6).

Charlton have lost none of their last seven FA Cup matches against teams from a lower division (W4 D3 L0).
Simon Church has scored the winning goal in each of the last two FA Cup ties the Addicks have won.

The last time these two sides met was in League One in 2011-12 when the Londoners won both home and away games without conceding.

In 2014, Charlton have saved their good form for the FA Cup with a record of P4 W3 D1 L0, while in the Championship they have struggled (P7 W1 D1 L5).

All three of Charlton’s FA Cup victories this season have come away from home.

Right, before I sign off for the weekend, I want to wish you all the best of luck for Sunday. I wouldnt usually make a big deal of it but hey, you're 90 minutes away from Wembley!

A cup run has been a long time coming for you poor suffering sods, so here's hoping your team do the business for you and give you the Wembley day out that you're all craving.

Safe journey to all those of you making the trip and just remember, if you're coming out of Brammall Lane with a voice and still able to speak, you havent sung loud enough :)

(Be warned, I will be watching on the telly!)

I can see us really going for it, jj's attitude towards getting to wembley has got to echo some others at least, I think we will score early on in the first half and stupidly try and sit back on it, they will defend for their lives and hold them off, just. I predict a very uncomfortable 0-1 win. Jackson to score.

Will we ever have a better chance to progress to a semi-final for the first time since we won in 1947?

As the semi final is a day at Wembley this means a lot. The problem we have though is just where are the goals going to come from and with their miserly defence it could be tough. I really do not know which way to call it and I can see us getting a draw possibly? No we'll blow it 2-0 to the Blades.

Likely to be a tense and tight game. I think we can get a 1-1 draw and take it back to the Valley. Not over confident we would win the replay however.

I am led to understand that there is a new FA ruling which has been called " FF's law" stating that , should a quarter final match be drawn at the full time whistle, then the away team wins by default and NO replay is deemed necessary.

Thank the lawd for that !
