Do you honestly think that group of players playing like that would've won under any other manager/formation? Half of them were dreadful (and playing in their proper positions).
What formation would you go with then? What magic formation would solve all of our problems? It must be obvious if Powell is so clueless for missing it.
I don't agree with Cousins there either, but leaving the entire right side of midfield blank is stupid. Tudgay + Reza cannot play midfield so that's a non-starter. AA is a CM, same with Jackson.0 -

I'm sorry, I know a great many fans are in love with him but Jackson was anonymous. Quick free kick aside, this was the man who captained the team and like Powell, is meant to get them up for the game. He's been giving all the talk about being the last of generation to grow up watching the cup, his last chance to play at Wembley. He's slow. His goals like the winner against QPR are too few and far between these days. Playing him leads to a very unbalanced midfield, players playing out of position to accommodate him. He did bottle it today and he's another tired peg in Powell's overly cautious tactics book.CharltonByBlood said:

Very disappointing result but predictable - Sheffield United have been on an excellent run. Not the end of the world but I agree that Powell has to improve his tactics and sometimes his team selection. He still has a lot learn but generally I think he has done OK. Basically he is dealing with a group of players who are just not good enough and I would have said that before Stephens and Kermogant left. The Club was complacent after the good end to last season (which was rather fluky) and the playing squad should have been addressed in the summer. Looking forward a new manager might liven things up and kick a few backsides but I can't think of anyone we could afford who would be better than Powell. Warnock is not the answer in the long term and I don't think he'd be a lot better than CSP.0

Some understandable harsh words from those that have travelled far and have spent heavily. I could say that in the cold light of day you feel understandably peeved. In time that may recede.
But after that boneless performance it's hard to know where we go from here.
It's starting to feel like that we'll be dragging our heels in league one and still the faithfull will say we'll come good in a minute.
Things need to change and bloody quick too.
I trust Powell. I love Powell. But unfortunately I love Charlton a little bit more.0 -

Me like I'm sure other people presume that by "bottled it" it's a player pulling out of tackles , not giving it there all , not willing the team on , lazy etc
Your questioning jackson ability to score goals ? So your judgement ( mainly incorrect ) is that he's not good enough ? Not that fact that he bottled it because he didn't , "bottled it " is completely different to "not scoring enough goals "
Jackson worked his arse off today. , maybe he didn't have his best of games but I'll always back someone that puts his all into a our shirts
