Yes, because a new manager "always does the trick".Oakster said:"New manager - always does the trick."
I genuinely don't think I've read a more stupid post in the history of CL.
please enlighten me why?
You really don't have to look too hard to see that this couldn't be further from the truth.1 -
You'd prefer Danny Green?Yann897 said:
Haha who mentioned warnock but if we wanna speak about formations we had a very good centre mid playing right wing ???SELR_addicks said:
Didn't realise Church would suddenly turn into a 30 goal a season man and Jackson suddenly turn 25 if Warnock took over! My mistake!Yann897 said:
Yes I really do and most people are deluded if you think more experienced managers wouldn't get more out of this team !SELR_addicks said:
Who is on the pitch? Other fans blaming managers means nothing.Yann897 said:
So it's all the players fault , which suprises me when most teams lose they Blame the manager , but we're different ?Garrymanilow said:
There's no Powell love in today. Not a single person has said anything in support of him in this match, it's just most people are intelligent enough to realise that if the players show as little effort and determination as they did today it doesn't matter if you have Jose Mourinho or Donald Duck as manager, you won't come away with a result. By just blindly blaming the manager you let the players get off scot-free, and they should not be allowed that todayYann897 said:I'm honestly very surprised with the Powell love in , did you lot watch the same game as me, I'm very embaressed and disappointed !
Do you honestly think that group of players playing like that would've won under any other manager/formation? Half of them were dreadful (and playing in their proper positions).
What formation would you go with then? What magic formation would solve all of our problems? It must be obvious if Powell is so clueless for missing it.
I don't agree with Cousins there either, but leaving the entire right side of midfield blank is stupid. Tudgay + Reza cannot play midfield so that's a non-starter. AA is a CM, same with Jackson.0 -
Powell all the way. Though a midfield 4, with three callow youth I don't hope to see again.0

ummmm. my original post ...
Barry Ferguson - breath of fresh air for Blackpool after Ince. New manager - always does the trick
The guy who said it was stupid, obviously didn't understand the first bit...so cut it out.
Please don't lump me in with the Powell Out brigade.0 -

Right... well, just to be clear, I read your comment as being irony free. Which means I can take it word for word. 'A new manager always does the trick'.
These are the first managers that sprang to mind, that led me to think your comment was ridiculous.
Henning Berg
Michael Appleton
René Meulensteen
Felix Magath
Pepe Mel
David Moyes (!)
Or how about our own, recent history:
Les Reed
Phil Parkinson
Alan Pardew
Which of those guys proves your rule? Or do you think these are the exceptions?0 -
I'm sorry, I know a great many fans are in love with him but Jackson was anonymous. Quick free kick aside, this was the man who captained the team and like Powell, is meant to get them up for the game. He's been giving all the talk about being the last of generation to grow up watching the cup, his last chance to play at Wembley. He's slow. His goals like the winner against QPR are too few and far between these days. Playing him leads to a very unbalanced midfield, players playing out of position to accommodate him. He did bottle it today and he's another tired peg in Powell's overly cautious tactics book.CharltonByBlood said:

Like I said, I read it as irony free - if it's a whoosh situation then sure, whoosh me up. But I'd argue that really wasn't clear in the OP.1

DLT - we should do what Sheff U did & get a new coach
Oakster - yes look at Barry Ferguson at Blackpool - a new manager always does the trick
just to make it even clearer BF has earned Blackpool 3 points out if a possible 24 since becoming their manager.
Do you really think I would use BF as an example if I wanted to back up DLT's assertion or was I being ironic.
The choice is yours.

Ok - apologies, I've been pounding through more threads than usual. Gotten a little riled by the amount of negatives, I thought you were one of them in my haste. I take it back. I take it all back.1

Interesting to see what andy ansah put on twitter @MrAndyAnsah: To my fellow #Charlton fans there is disappointment from today's loss.
The truth will surface behind it.
I won't say no more.0 -
no offence taken Jimmy its been a long day - i was actually quite proud of having posted the stupidest comment ever on Charlton Life - that is an amazing achievementJiMMy 85 said:Ok - apologies, I've been pounding through more threads than usual. Unless its something like Charlton players unable to sleep at the hotel or something dumb like that.0 -
Well it's rather ironic that I managed it in the process of saying it!2

Oh dear. 3 or 4 nil would not have flattered them. YK type football only no one to aim at. Panic buttons were pushed all through the team. Powell to blame? Who knows.0
-
Not to mention their centre half who was strolling though our midfield whenever he liked, to set up a chance.0

I hope that's a fake account but who would fake Andy Ansah's twitter ?
Worrying indeed.0 -
Very disappointing result but predictable - Sheffield United have been on an excellent run. Not the end of the world but I agree that Powell has to improve his tactics and sometimes his team selection. He still has a lot learn but generally I think he has done OK. Basically he is dealing with a group of players who are just not good enough and I would have said that before Stephens and Kermogant left. The Club was complacent after the good end to last season (which was rather fluky) and the playing squad should have been addressed in the summer. Looking forward a new manager might liven things up and kick a few backsides but I can't think of anyone we could afford who would be better than Powell. Warnock is not the answer in the long term and I don't think he'd be a lot better than CSP.0

Why should Andy Ansah's opinion be so important?0

There was far worse players on that pitch today then Jackson ..cabbles said:

Some understandable harsh words from those that have travelled far and have spent heavily. I could say that in the cold light of day you feel understandably peeved. In time that may recede.
But after that boneless performance it's hard to know where we go from here.
It's starting to feel like that we'll be dragging our heels in league one and still the faithfull will say we'll come good in a minute.
Things need to change and bloody quick too.
I trust Powell. I love Powell. But unfortunately I love Charlton a little bit more.0 -
He is close to CP - he knew Powell was our manager before we did and dropped a massive hint about it on twitter at the time.Darty Valiant said:Why should Andy Ansah's opinion be so important?
He would have some idea about what's going on behind the scenes.

Me like I'm sure other people presume that by "bottled it" it's a player pulling out of tackles , not giving it there all , not willing the team on , lazy etc
Your questioning jackson ability to score goals ? So your judgement ( mainly incorrect ) is that he's not good enough ? Not that fact that he bottled it because he didn't , "bottled it " is completely different to "not scoring enough goals "
Jackson worked his arse off today. , maybe he didn't have his best of games but I'll always back someone that puts his all into a our shirts
If anyone honestly thinks he bottled it then football fans are far thicker then what I thought0
