No, Warnock would be a terrible choice. Can you blame Powell for the spirit? Especially taking into account what he's had to contend with this season.

Of course you can! It's the management team's job to motivate players! If my 'team' performed like that in the work place week in, week out, I would expect to be held accountable because I am paid to manage and produce results.

I'm sorry, I know a great many fans are in love with him but Jackson was anonymous. Quick free kick aside, this was the man who captained the team and like Powell, is meant to get them up for the game. He's been giving all the talk about being the last of generation to grow up watching the cup, his last chance to play at Wembley. He's slow. His goals like the winner against QPR are too few and far between these days. Playing him leads to a very unbalanced midfield, players playing out of position to accommodate him. He did bottle it today and he's another tired peg in Powell's overly cautious tactics book.

There was far worse players on that pitch today then Jackson ..

If I break it down to individual players, he was one of the poorest. Wiggins was poor, wood was poor, as was cousins and church. The fact that Jackson was captain and talked up the importance of the FA cup then delivered that performance, puts him right up there. I'm fed up of our team accommodating him if he doesn't score goals or deliver on a set piece. The goal against QPR and the assist up at Wednesday are not frequent enough.

Embarrassed....still on wards and upwards...it's the only way we can go.

Surely the responsibility for todays performance is a combined responsibility of the players and the management. The management had the responsibility to get the players up for the game and the players had the responsibility to be up for the game. There was failure on all sides to achieve this.

However the game has gone, the important thing is Wednesday and Saturday, if we can get 4 out of 6 points then we are back on track.

I haven't seen us play well since two thirds of the way through the league 1 title winning season.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned the very good team that beat us today

I know they are mid table in the 3rd division but they won't be there for long

I really don't want to trawl through the (currently) six pages of this thread, so forgive me if I'm repeating anything said already....

1. If we get shot of CP, will we realistically get anyone worth having at the moment? We could get someone far worse.
2. Given the recent history of CAFC - namely chronic under-investment under the previous regime - could we have expected anyone else to have done better?
3. CAFC's new owner has made a significant change with the multi-club model. I don't think you can compare life under Roland in the same way as life was under Slater and Jiminez. Not only do the players have to adapt to that, but so does the manager. I think it's a totally fundamental difference.
4. There is a lot of raw emotion right now following our exit from the FA Cup which makes it hard to be optimistic and objective. Turning things around takes time, and in some respects the FA Cup has been a distraction from the league. We have to give CP time. Note: if someone else came in they would need time too.
5. Recent articles in the papers on managerial changes in the Premiership (and there have been a fair few this season) all quote stats that changing the manager does not always yield good results. Fulham have done it twice....
6. We have three games in hand (and four against Millwall) which gives us opportunity. I don't think that will be lost on either CP or the team.

I just don't feel comfortable with the idea of just kicking CP out. He has been exceptionally loyal to his players, and has not spoken out against the previous regime or indeed about anything which he may disagree with under the current one. Yes results are important - don't get me wrong - but acting with the kind of integrity CP has IMHO been doing is something you won't find comes as standard with every manager, and may be lacking in any replacement.
