would you want to see Curbs back?

I doubt he would ever come back and don't get me wrong I love Chris Powell more than anyone. Personally, the day he goes well be a very dark day for me. Something has gotta give though, and as much as I love Powell I love my club more. I'm certain we are staying up, but if Powell went - would you want to see Curbs return?

Yes, but under Roland's terms, he wouldn't touch it

I actually think under certain circumstances he might be up for it, but I’m not sure that we should be.

how about digging up Jimmy Seed or Bob Stokoe and re-signing Mendonca, Alan Campbell and Richard Rufus ? .. Curbishley worked minor miracles in different times under different circumstances .. times and circumstances are different .. get with it and move on

If there was a director of football job going then I'd not want anyone else but Curbs. He wouldn't undermine Powell and he'd work in the right way for the benefit of the club. Not going to happen though.

    Absolutely not.

But for some reason it would be quite funny. "Charlton Kevin Keegan"

As far as I am concerned, Alan Curbishley fails as the perfect replacement for Chris Powell for only one reason: he's already been born.

Sadly I didn't catch the programme because it clashed with our game against QPR. Not sure what Curbs' response was but personally I'd be glad to see him back.
Think he used the words Barge-pole & shitty stick in there somewhere.............

I am beginning to suspect that CP feels the same.

    We could re-sign Eddie Firmani...I hear he's a young 80

Yeah, why not... It's not like he's busy or would do any worse and I'm not being detrimental to Powell with that comment. as Powell isn't doing the managing at the moment, he is only coaching.

Never gonna happen. He's been out the managerial game for far too long. Maybe, at a push, he'd get a job upstairs.
  • Any replacement would only be as coach not manager. Curbs would not put up with that!

I think he means that he wants Powell to remain in charge for so long that his replacement will need to be much younger.

I can just imagine that conversation.

Roland ‘Now, Alan, you were very good Charlton manager, Huh. I would like you to be coach. Huh. You will only able to play the players, my management team have selected for Charlton. Huh. You can have control who plays but you will not be able to bring in any of your own players, huh. You will need to sell your best player, even though financially, you don’t really need to , huh. It is best for the club for my vision will change the way that British, European and World football will be organised for ever, as I am a visionary, huh, what do you think ? ……. Alan……..? ………You want me to place my offer where ?.........

If Chris Powell's replacement has not been born yet, it would indicate that Powell has had a very long (and, therefore, likely very successful) career as Charlton Manager.

So I am hoping that he is only replaced, by someone much, much younger, many decades into the future. For example, someone not yet born.

Alan Curbishley, therefore, would rule himself out of this particular scenario merely by having already been born.

  • I don't know that I'd recognise him if I just saw him from the back, don't suppose I'd mind if I did see his back, don't go to Essex much tho' so not much chance.

I was thinking more marketing. Or is that downstairs?

  • If AC came back here and it went pair shape he would be given dogs abuse and his Charlton reputation tarnished , he was given enough abuse about being too negative at the end of his tenure and why weren't we pushing for Europe now we'd been in the Premiership for 8 seasons , we don't deserve him.

Is have him back in a shot if RD sacked CP but like you all say he'd soon walk out.
