I assume we aren't to take Simon Thomas' tweet literally ?
  • If this is true we'll be hearing from the LMA in the news

It makes me laugh, all these 'experts' pour their crap out through twitter, I would guess twats like Barton have not seen the crap performances and inept tactics that we have had to endure this season, we are bottom of the league, we froze to a league 1 team in the FA Cup. If the manager cannot get a team 'up' for a game that has the prize of wembley at the end of it then he will never get the team 'up' for a London derby against Millwall.
Chris Powell, totally fantastic bloke and CAFC legend, no argument.
BUT, not good enough as a manager. Look at the table, and if these 'experts' actually watched his style of football they would have to agree that the correct decision has been made.

do you think this decision has been made because of the football being played though?

?? - and we are bottom of league, and we were heading that way before RD's takeover, and we bent over last Sunday, where do I stop, if Powell was not the manager he would have gone before Xmas, wake up everyone.

4 games in hand, threadbare squad with the best sold from under him, no financial backing for the last 18 months.

Yeah, he must be a well shit manager, all them footballers discussing about how well he has done with the investment he has had must just be joking about.

Do you still think we would be in the same position if we had a board that backed Powell and let him bring in the players he wanted, and strengthened the team in areas that were needed?

Let's see what has happened this season:
Summer transfer window - Every other team around us strengthens, we stagnate, and ship players out.
January transfer window - We sell arguable our two better players, and get in a few reserve players from our owners main club. Do not get one player that can play in the position that we need most (right wing).

I know were are sitting bottom of the table (four games in hand mind), but to be honest, with the squad we have, and with every other squad around us having strengthened, do you expect anything else?

    Easy to blame the manager.

Add to that a squad that have been f****d about with their contracts.

It baffles me that people can't see this. Spot on.

One of us gas got to say it, so 'well see'
If we start winning under the new bloke with the same squad and avoid relegation then I hope everyone who protests will say correct decision, if however we still go down then RD has made a terrible decision not to invest in January
    Well see!

Indeed, if the new guy comes in and we start playing good football and winning, then RD was right to make the decision he did, and I will be more than happy to put my hands up and say I was wrong.

Probably not entirely but it can't have helped. If you'd spent millions buying a club and then saw them churn out performances like they've done against Doncaster, Birmingham, the 2nd half at Wigan and then that shambles on sunday, wouldn't you be wondering 'what the f*ck is this?'

theres a difference between loyalty and wanting out. You might be in a job that you want to leave and you believe you can do a similar job for more pay somewhere else and want to leave, but you have loyalty to your current employers to stick it out for a year or so. Stephens never refused to play (although it might have seemed like it, with his performances being inconsistant) and seemingly was always on board and never really made a fuss.

I often wonder if Deano was the former CAFC mate Chrissy contacted about assisting him soon after his appointment. He appears to be well thought of at WBA and might yet find himself back in SE7 one day - though not under the current ownership!

Meanwhile those commenting "about time" etc. over his dismissal could obviously put forward a whole string of names who would've coped better than CP under the same constraints.

Spoke to Joey Barton at my University which we both attended about 2 weeks ago and we talked football for a brief time and he mentioned how much he respected Powell.

No one can hate Chris Powell it's not possible.

You obviously don't spend much time on CL reading the rants of the anti-powell group.
Well they have had their way. Sub-standard Liege here we come.

Think everyone in Football (even the highly paid idjits) appreciates what Mr Powell is. Top player, England player, PFA chairman, Manager who had no money and bought Our club back. Record points total in getting promoted. Kept His dignity with all the cr*p going on around the club last year.

My one wish is that He walked rather than being sacked.

CP. I think we miss you already.
