Personally I dont care if the Manager is pink with purple spots and comes from a different Galaxy I just want us to stay up, as I suspect 99% of fans would agree! Its seems Sky love that sort of thing, news and an angle where is isn't either to keep a 24 hour station going on a quiet day!2

Did they? I heard them mention that Chris Houghton was now the only black manager in post. (Probably not for long). On a wider aspect it is news on how under represented black footballers are represented at managerial level.1

Maybe get Paul Elliott to fight a corner then.Kap10 said:Did they? I heard them mention that Chris Houghton was now the only black manager in post. (Probably not for long). On a wider aspect it is news on how under represented black footballers are represented at managerial level.

Awful angle to take on it. Just had to mention it didn't they0
-
Unfortunately was always going to be used when Powell (and when Houghton) gets sacked0
-
I think the line was 'Powell is the 4th black manager to be sacked this season' which might be seen as making a connection between black and sack0
-
The sky sports presenter answered a mail regarding this by stating" he was merely pointing out that considering the number of black players in the game there are only two black managers and now 1 (Chris Hughton at Norwich)". I never read it as anything else.1
-
So, should applicants be given the job because they are black to get ratios up or is it merely a case of not as many black applicants or desire to become managers?
Its not 1979 for FUCKS sake.
Get over this black/white shit

Well if you look at sky sports tweet announcing/confirming the sacking there are a load of responses saying Racists. It's odd.0

If I were Black I suspect it would irritate somewhat that the non issue is brought up every time my name is mentioned.
There will always be Racism unless we drop the whole Black/White/Red/Green issue and just admit that we are all people.3 -

Agree 100%, unfortunately a very very small minority still think it is this generation at fault for the wrongdoings of previous generations and still think they are owed something.Vinnie V. said:If I were Black I suspect it would irritate somewhat that the non issue is brought up every time my name is mentioned.

As is there a very very small minority who think the way generations acted before is the way forward.
Of course racism is rife in other countries and I couldnt give a shit about the way they deal with it, all I know is I want my 2 year old to grow up not knowing what racism is in his country.
If he grows up with as much respect for other races as his 18 yo brother and 16 yo sister Ill be happy.
move on, 2014 ffs

Because SSN, as with all murdoch empire outlets, is a despicable journalistically vacuous and morally bankrupt abomination, fueled by the subscriptions of the gullible and complicit.addickedandy said:Chris Powell's sacking had nothing to do with the colour of his skin, why have SSN mentioned this?????

BBC website also refers0

God, why mention colour??!! It's got nothing to do with colour!!
Typical media to spin it that way!!0 -
I don't know where to begin with responding to this, so I'll go and have a cup of tea instead.Charltonparklane said:So, should applicants be given the job because they are black to get ratios up or is it merely a case of not as many black applicants or desire to become managers?

i am not racist or anything but i swear most people jsut dont give a shit and a few people make such a big deal out of it making the rest of us feel bad for mistakes made by a few morons. in this country i mean, not in ukraine of some country like that.0
-
Im so glad you put a thread up about this, cos it really p****d me off when I saw that this morning, Sky sports sunk to a new low in my opinion, stick to the guys merits as a manager not the colour of his skin!!! This did more to incite / promote racialism than anything I have heard for a long time….poor show SKY !!!!!!0

Sol Campbell also showing his in depth knowledge of Powell's sacking, yes he is a club man through and through but is he even aware we've been taken over by a man who wants to change everything and has previous of doing this? If he is, he doesn't sound like it:
