Nothing less than I expected - thanks for your passion and commitment and the wonderful memories Chris - you are a Charlton hero and rightly admired and respected throughout the game - very sorry to see you go - all the best for the future
“Following my sacking, the first thing I want to do is give my most sincere thanks to the superb Charlton Athletic fans for their continued and unconditional support. I have always maintained a wonderful relationship with them both as manager of the Club and during my three different spells as a player.
“I always said I would never walk away from this great Club and ultimately it’s not about individuals, it’s about the Club and our fantastic supporters.
“I have over 15 years association with Charlton dating back to 1998, and over the years I have enjoyed many truly wonderful times. So, it is with deepest regret that my time as manager has now come to an end. It was an honour to have been given the opportunity to manage the Club and without doubt the proudest moment of my career in football was leading Charlton to the League One title, amassing 101 points in the process - a club record points tally. On a personal note I was extremely privileged to have been voted by my peers as the League One Manager of the Year following the success we all enjoyed.
“We experienced a fantastic first season back in the Championship by finishing 9th last term and I was confident that we would have secured our Championship status once again this campaign.
“In closing I simply want to wish everyone connected with Charlton Athletic the very best for the future.”
Not a single snipe at RD:
Then again a man that is as pure class as Powell is then its not even really a surprise, I miss him so much already.
A typically dignified comment, not sure why that needed to be issued through the LMA though, as there's nothing of any controversy in it at all!
As I said earlier, it would have been a prepared statement agreed by Chris (via the LMA) and the Club as part of a condition of the settlement agreement.
That said, I would not have expected Chris to be anything other than what he's always been - a man made of pure dignity.
What an honourable gentleman he is. There are some people remaining at the club and within the football world who should learn a lesson from this man. Chris you ooze class and you will always be a Charlton legend in my eyes. Hopefully, we will see you back at the Club one day. Now go on and prove those doubters what a great manager you are, sadly for another club.
Pure class - perhaps Jimenez who did so little to support Powell once we were promoted and then issued a series of self justifying blogposts on his departure, and Duchatelet might wish to reflect on whether they get anywhere near Chrissy when it comes to basic honesty and decency.
I still feel tearful. I will continue to literally wear a red heart on my sleeve to every game until he comes back home where he belongs. Such a decent honourable man, he just needed some support!
“Following my sacking, by email, the first thing I want to do is give my most sincere thanks to the superb Charlton Athletic fans but mostly to Bolderhumphreyreid for his continued and unconditional support and good looks. I have always maintained a wonderful relationship with him both as manager of the Club and during my three different spells as a player.
“I always said I would never walk away from this great Club and ultimately it’s not about individuals, except the great Bolderhumphreyreid, it’s about the Club and our fantastic supporters.
“I have over 15 years association with Charlton dating back to 1998, and over the years I have enjoyed many truly wonderful times. So, it is with deepest regret that my time as manager has now come to an end. This next bit has been written for my CV so i'll share it with you... "It was an honour to have been given the opportunity to manage the Club and without doubt the proudest moment of my career in football was meeting Bolderhumphreyreid as well as leading Charlton to the League One title, amassing 101 points in the process - a club record points tally (you listening Roly?). On a personal note I was extremely privileged to have been voted by my peers as the League One Manager of the Year following the success we all enjoyed (Roly...you still there?).
“We experienced a fantastic first season back in the Championship by finishing 9th last term with zero finances (did you know that bit Roly?)and I was confident that we would have secured our Championship status once again this campaign seeing as we had a fantastic cup run which lead to us being bottom of the table due to having played less games than the rest (did you realise that Roly?).
“In closing I simply want to wish everyone connected with Charlton Athletic, especially the legend that is Bolderhumphreyreid, the very best for the future.”

Not a word about the how and why he was dismissed, no slagging off the owner and no moaning about the rough hand he was dealt.
The man has dignity and humility.
I wish him all the luck in the world.
Just want him back!
