In recent years Hamlet have supplied Dickson to Charlton, a player to West Ham and a player to Huddersfield, so it does show league are looking at the non leagues and taking a punt

Wasnt there a lad who went to Liverpool as well or was that just on trial

I was broke and used to watch local side Woking early 90s. I recommended Tim Buzgalo to the club and got a free ticket to a match at the Valley. Shortly after Buzgalo got a hat-trick vs W Brom in the 4-1cup win but soon after did his cruciate. I wonder had he been fit whether the club may have taken a punt?

We were at Selhurst when he scored that hat trick. WAs the ticket for Selhurst?

Stuart Pearce began at Wealdstone while working as a hod carrier.
  • I don't think anyone has mentioned one of the most famous local (ish ) deals. Orpington boy Tony Cascarino bought from Crockenhill by Gillingham for a set of track suits. The deal struck buy our own Mr Peacock I believe.

This lad who plays for Dulwich is now on trial at Burnley, Played for Charlton Youth up to 16 we released him due to him being 5ft 3 apparently.

22 year old left footed centre-mid 90 apps for Hamlet so far, 53 goals & 23 assists.

Very good player seen him quite a lot. I do think at championship level he is too small but hopefully I'm wrong. Brings a nice group of supporters to champion hill.

Going by his biography he certainly seems to be playing at a level lower than his ability (no discredit to Dulwich Hamlet) especially when you see he only left the Turkish Premier League clubs due to home sickness

Playing WELL below his level in Ryman Premier.

Other examples of Charlton non-league signings...

Alan Pardew (Yeovil, Dulwich Hamlet, Whytleafe etc) and Paul Gorman.

But the best of the lot....Paul Williams...£20k from Woodford Town. He top scored for two seasons in the top division with only a handful of loan games at Brentford behind him. 4 England U21 Caps and 3 goals (I looked that bit up!) We got £700k for him when we were skint so somebody did rather well scouting him!!

Paddy Powell has to be our best Non League signing of all time - not just over 300 appearances but he threw in a bit of gardening for us too.

I guess every player at Charlton was non-League prior to our 1st League match in 1921.

Non-league also has a lot of chaff - it might not be the best use of our limited funds really. for every player who came from non-league there were 19 other squad-mates not good enough to move out really. We'd be better off looking at places like Trinidad & Tobago *hint hint* :p

This bloke is absolute quality. Went to see the hamlet today and he was streets ahead of everyone. The only thing holding him back is his height but his technique and vision is at least football league standard.
  • It seems a shame that his height is such an issue... Callum Harriott is 5.5ft after all whilst Leo Messi is only 5.7ft
