He obviously has talent that is plain to see. His touch is very good and is quick. I don't get the lazy thing as he does the same running any striker does apart from church.

I wonder if the people who slate sordell have played football at a high enough level to understand the quality of runs are much more important than the quantity, anyone can run around all day but it just takes the one run e.g sordell against hudds (although he missed the one on one) to score a goal4

church 2148 minutes played 3 goals League apps
Errrrrrrrm. 954 mins played, 124 great runs!!

Out service to our strikers has been appalling though im sure we only had one shot in 3 games including donny. Sordell has played 21 games in the league, divide that by minutes played and it works out around 45 mins. How a striker can get a rhythm playing on average 45 mins a game is beyond me0

And he hasn't even started close to 21 games so the true figure is even lower. Would like to see him in a Riga team playing with confidence. He looked good on Tuesday and has had a real upturn in performance. In terms of talent and technique he is head and shoulders above Simon 'runs around a lot' Church0

its the same with Reza as personally i think he has been unlucky as he does get in goal scoring areas - compare sordell and Reza with church who has played far more minutes recently and i think you may come up with the answer on who should be playing and why we have a lack of goals. The word Powder Puff springs to mind with church.3

Chris Powell has made about a dozen footballers become better players through joining Charlton, so I'd have him down as a pretty decent "coach". He clearly couldn't get this supposed unbelievable talent out of Sordell, and neither could anyone at Bolton.

Personally ive seen a vast improvement in Marvin since Jose has arrived and with my eyes he certainly has strength and pace - Also i dont think Powells defensive tactics suited Marvin.

I think his reputation of being "disinterested" has come from being unwilling to chase hopeful punts upfield against big centre-halfs who are six inches taller. I've seen him twice come on as sub and he was dangerous every time he was on the ball.6

A couple of goals, a bit of confidence and he'll look a totally different player. I seen enough "useless" forwards suddenly turn into very good players, with an injection of confidence.1

Actually think him and Obika could get a good partnership going.
The main factor in all of this is that the service needs to improve. Nowhere near enough attacking with pace and through balls.0 -
