We're planning a private view evening for "Friends of the Museum" before the end of the season.

The Museum won't be fully ready but people will be able to see the space and we'll have a range of exhibits as well as tea and biscuits.

The signed and matchworn shirt should be part of that.

More details when we have them

Don't give it to Glass half Empty as he can't get some stuff from Chislehurst to Bickley!

Still waiting on the Charity Commision to either confirm our application to become a charity or tell us what more we have to do. Huge savings on VAT if we can get that.

In what way would you make VAT savings from being registered with the Charities Commission?

Meant to say ages ago, I have a small (as in normal photograph size) picture signed by Jonjo of him signing his first contract. Would the muesum be interested in something so small and can it be lent or does it have to be 'given'.

Charities are exempt from VAT so when we buy a new security system for the room we save the 20% VAT that would normally be on the bill

All items can be loaned for a time period of your choosing or donated permanantly.

How big is "normal" (shut it @shag)?

Would go well with Jonjo's shirt @uncle

Open an old photograph album - that size. The size photos were before everything was computer generated! 6x4?

    Yes please,

Drop it off at the Valley C/O Charlton Atheltic Musuem.

If you want to loan it inbox me your email I'll send you a donation form on which you can specify the period.

    Hmm - afraid not.

Charities (including those not registered with the Charities Commission) are entitled to certain reliefs on purchases but they are most certainly not "exempt from VAT" - charities lose £millions per annum because the majority can only reclaim a small percentage of the VAT that they incur.

In the example you have provided, I would fully expect VAT to be charged on the purchase of the security system.

Have you had a quote? Has the security system supplier agreed not to charge VAT if you are a charity?

You might want to revisit your budgets.

Shame, Musuem could have done with an accountant.

Yes, we have a quote from the security firm with and without VAT hence the wait.

    Afternoon.

Packing more stuff today, wondering if the Museum would like:
Program v WHUFC, the 4-0 in 2007, signed by the goalscorers and Alex Song ?
Also found some Handbooks, anyone got a list of what years they were produced and what ones are needed ?
Newspaper cuttings from 1980-up to date ?
Season Ticket books from the 80's- up to date ?

Will let you know what else I find.

Wish I did, back to the '47 Cup Final !

No, I don't, just a sad old git who kept everything he'd seen or received whilst supporting his football team.
Wanted to pass it all onto my nephew Charlie (no jokes here please TN, etc...).
