Beckham or Rooney?

A lot of people seem to be comparing the goals, but who's was better in your opinion?

  • Beckhams due to age and declaration of arrival of a truly great player

Rooney used better Teccas IMO but is already a quality player and a bit older

Beckham's hit the goal better but he had more time to stop, look and think. Rooney's was better because it was split second decision on the half volley.

You seem to be saying that luck trumps skill....

...I reckon the opposite. Beckhams for me.

A half volley takes more skill than a ball on the floor in my opinion. And most goals that are considered to be great goals such as volleys, overhead kicks etc rely on luck but that doesn't mean it doesn't take a great amount of skill to pull it off.

As Russell Brand said, Beckham's because it didn't involve elbowing anyone and he had a better Barnet

Rooney, wasn't even looking directly at the goal when he hit it.

    Beckham's...

Slightly further distance, directly hit the back of the net, pure accuracy, the keeper was closer to his line, Rooney is a twat I don't want to applaud what he does.

Rooneys was quality but with about .....40% luck ratio in my opinion.

Nice to see the golden balls love brigade out in force.
  • not that alonso one because KEEPER?! wtf was he doing

didnt alonso do a slighlty better one against luton?

i prefer Beckhams as i think it takes more skill to strike a ball like that. ok its too cheeky to call rooney's a swinger but Beckham takes it for me. not too much between them.

rooneys bicycle kick for citeh and the volley v newcastle are much better goals IMO. wtf was Adrian doing? he didnt know where that ball was going

Surely goal of the weekend belongs to the lad from Norwich City?

Beckhams better, more than an element of luck in Rooneys, a bit of a 'swinger''

Folkestone keeper did this just hours before on Saturday. Wind assisted of course but still a nice moment.

Beckham - it is much easier to do what Rooney did than what Beckham did purely because of the bounce

Alonso. I'd never seen that one before but it's an absolute scorcher. Bounces right on the line!

What has Beckham done wrong ?
  • Beckham as Rooney is a scummy greedy knobhead
And always lets the country down as he can't be bothered

Not a half way line goal, but different to the usual lob finish.

The Giggs turn and short from the centre circle at The Valley during THE 3-3 draw would have been better than both is it had gone in instead of hitting the bar!

That video is titled "Nayim from Halfway Line" - that shot was WELL inside the opposition half. The halfway line is an actual line on the pitch, you can't just use it as an expression to mean 'quite far away'.

In terms of the Rooney/Beckham debate, I have to agree with the majority - Beckham's is better as it is further away, harder to do, and the keeper isn't hugely at fault - what the heckaroo is the West Ham keeper doing? He literally runs away from it.
