Excessive Internet Adverts and Popups

My internet now is so bad with adverts/Popups I am unable to do anything online. It's driving me nuts and I'm getting close to throwing my PC out the window. I've tried internet options etc but the settings all seem to be ok so I'm obviously missing something. Can anyone give advice on how to stop them from appearing? I'm having to use my phone to write this post. Thanks.

Update to Mozilla Firefox for your internet search engine and check for Add ons. Try Ad block plus. Sounds like your machine needs a clean as well. Take a look at CC cleaner. I would remove the other search engines as well (after installing Firefox) and reinstall the ones that you want. That will remove book marks but probably worth doing.
In Options in mozilla there is a Pop up Blocker box to tick in Content that should help. Also in Security Tab there is a tick box option for a warning when sites are trying to install add ons.
Hope that helps.

Also try malwarebytes in case you've got infested with some nasty adware.0

I've got the same.
I recently put it into PC world for a complete clean and it came back brilliant but now the ads are back.
The free kids games are apparently the problem.0 -
Google pop up blocker and take your pick.0

Eventually went to using Firefox after a brief spell with Safari and I am completely advert/popup free. And completely satisfied with using Firefox.
Baldybonce - you should try this.
Thanks y'all.0 -
Glad it worked. Firefox seems to be less revenue driven than Google, Apple and Microsoft browsers. Try Ghostery add on as well for cutting back on the amount of advertising trackers. You will likely be quite surprised as to how many companies track you in the name of trying to sell you stuff (and websites sell your visits to advertisers to make money).0
