Charlton Athletic Programmes Website

This is very much a work in progress at the moment, but I have uploaded 700 odd Charlton Programme covers to the site linked below.

If anyone is interested in a trip down memory lane, please feel free to visit.

Still got 5000 to upload so the site will be regularly updated.

Comments welcome good or bad :-)

Not a programme collector myself but excellent archive.

There was a really good programme feature in the Leicester away programme that I wished we'd do in ours.

Shame Andy Linden's Charlton Scrapbook site seems to have closed down

Ask for Paul Ellis in the ticket office on a match day. Otherwise whatever the M-F 9-5 number is and ask for him

So the project continues. I have now uploaded all my 1950s programmes to go with all the pre 1950s and some newer stuff. Programme count is now over 1200 so hopefully there is something you might find interesting. If anyone wants to see anything in particular, please ask. If its in my collection I will upload it.

    Thanks for looking

A fantastic archive, Carl - love the graphic designs of many of the early ones. I'm not a programme collector, but have a load of Charlton home games from the 1960s and 70s. Just out of interest, do you have any idea of their value? The bookshop in Blackheath Village has some from these decades at £5 each.

VF - I am sorry to say you wont be getting rich. The bookshop in the village doesn't shift too many at that price. You would be lucky to get £1 each for them on ebay. Obviously there are some rare ones which would sell for more. Check what is being sold on ebay at the moment and you will see thousands without any bids.

    Sorry

    Sorry

I'm not disappointed, CL! For years I thought I had foolishly chucked them all away, until I had a massive stock inspection last year and was delighted to find them lurking at the back of a cupboard. What you say about the Blackheath bookshop doesn't surprise me - most of his stock is wildly overpriced. He had a sale recently with loads of stuff discounted by two-thirds, and still it didn't shift...!

Great stuff, love seeing all the designs from different periods
  • Great site CL. As a fellow collector of Charlton programmes it's quite depressing to see how many I still have to get!

I know there are several tough to find home postponed programmes Burnley (52/53), Man U (54/55), Cambridge 81/82 and of course Cardiff 08/09. Are there any others? Fully understand if you don't want to divulge this info to possible competition lol!

Fantastic selection. I have been collecting Charlton programmes since I first went to Charlton fifty two years ago. My wife would like to build a big bonfire as she is always moaning about the amount of room they take up.

@Mattwill1947 - The more difficult 1st team home league matches to obtain are
2008/2009 Home Cardiff Postponed - Last saw go for just over £100
1954/1955 Home Man United Postponed - Last saw go for over £300
1952/1953 Home Burnley Postponed - Never seen a copy
1951/1952 Home Villa Postponed - Never seen a copy

These are the only home League or cup matches I need back to the war.

The Demark U21 home friendly from 79/80 appeared on Ebay last week and went for £49. Thought my £48 bid was going to more than enough but I was wrong :(

@Henry - Always interested on what you have - even if its just to confirm there was an actual programme produced for any particular match.

  • Many thanks for the info CL

my old man would have an unbelievable programme collection I reckon, he buys one every game and I bet he never chucks them, I'll have to see what condition they are in!

I'm sure I had a Cardiff 2008/9 postponed programme but I might have sold them on. Will check.

Love the advert on the cover of the 1955 cafc programmes:

"Red and white cigarettes - for the man who inhales"
