Good on him for being man enough to say that. Been one of our best players this season.

Shame church can't do the same.

I heard that Sodell would have joined him in his tweet but was too busy looking for another wheelbarrow to put his latest bundle of cash he just stole..........
  • Good on him for posting that, days like this will keep him grounded when he is outclassing teams again soon enough, hopefully Tuesday night.
  • Luckily for him he will have his chance to make up for it soon enough. He'll be back tuesday.

Probably busy wheeling it to the Salvation Army...
  • Not that he was particularly bad, just not up to his very high standard.Good on him, some honesty like that would be good from other players.

He did try but didn't have enough power to trouble the key pad.

  • Well done, Diego.

From what young Jordan said about his commitment at the NWKA meeting recently, I'm guessing he'd echo those words.

Lol but contracts mean nothing in football when Man City steam in with a 20million bid

Hamer has to take some of the blame for the first goal too. He underhit it. Diego was lucky not to then get sent off.

Diego as a 19 year old has nothing to apologise for, he still showed some nice touches and made some decent tackles today.

And the wrath of the Charlton fans was aimed at Hamer for the goal anyway!
  • Good that he came out and apologised (i.e. shows he cares) BUT

Diego your human lad... We all make mistakes (anyone who says they dont is talking crap) its learning from them thats important... so apology nice but not needed in my opinion

I wouldn't worry about it fella. Most people still marked you as average or above (5>) so you got away with it.

Diego has nothing to apologise for, he's done more in the last three months than others for the entire season.

Top lad, let's face it - of all the grounds he wanted to do well at, Amex was probably top of his list.
  • He's entitled to an off game, he's been mom for most games recently. Just so long as he finds his form again for Tuesday. Hamer gave him a terrible ball to deal with, the first goal should never have happened.

That's right, they mean £20m. as opposed to £500,000 or whatever we'll get as development fee.

And he's still better than Gus!
  • Interesting that while Diego was apologising on twitter, Hamer was sucking up to Kasper Schmeichel - and not apologising to the fans

Hamer should concentrate on shaving that daft beard off instead off trying to be a billy big nuts - first goal was down to him yet he shouts at others.. Cock!!

Been one of our better if not one of our very best this season. Done more good than bad IMO, but he's a cock cos he has a beard and reacts how all keepers do when he makes a mistake?

A bit of an over-simplification there I fear!

It's more a thankyou for the fact he was honest enough to come out and essentially say "I wasn't good enough today, and it's not acceptable - I know it's not and I'm sorry. I'll come back and make sure that doesn't happen again.". Pretty admirable as far as I'm concerned, I wish more players had the balls to come out and take it on the chin after a bad performance; no shirking away for a few days. It shows respect for the fans and it shows he has high standards for himself which he wants to meet.

About Hamer though - I completely agree with you 100%. People need to drop the comments about the beard; he's been one of our best players this season. Without him I think we would be in worse trouble, especially considering our current alternative.

However, perhaps if he came out and did a Poyet, "I wasn't good enough, and I'm sorry." then maybe he would win a few more people over. (Not me, he doesn't need to win me over - I think he's a top lad.)

He said his performance wasn't good enough, not that he didn't try hard enough.

Haven't rewatched on the tele, but to be fair to Hamer Poyet was adamantly calling for the ball
