For those still banging on about Kermorgant

I agree that we will have got away with it if we stay up. We'll still have to find a replacement, who it is likely will also cost money, but it draws the sting.shine166 said:Ok, I've not read the whole thread... But if we say up can we put this whole kerm thing to bed ? I meant surely if we stay up and got 400k too it wasn't such a bad move ?.
Admittedly I would be nice to not struggle over the line, but is kinda a different point.0 -
no replacement needed Polish Pete was bought for next season , forward thinking they call it1

RD was supposedly trying to spend money in January so I'm going to presume he will try again in the summer... I would have thought a permanent striker would be on that listAirman Brown said:

there will be loads of forwards out of contract after May,lets hope we don't leave it to long to grab a couple for ourselves,we at Charlton always leave it to late and end up with the crapshine166 said:

I'm lead to believe that's 9 goals in 7 home appearences0

Probably the biggest mistake we can have made, stay up or go down. I'm glad for him, he will be loved down there at Bournemouth, deserves his wage packet unlike half the tosh we're paying12

Yup. Crazy move by the board. As AB says, we'll have to replace him at some point.0 -

I quite liked Kermogant when he left, but now I hate him, just out of boredom.1

He scored 5 goals for us this season.. Let's not pretend he was some sort of world beater.
He's just got better players around him at Bournemouth2 -
Out injured for a whileGreenie Junior said:He scored 5 goals for us this season.. Let's not pretend he was some sort of world beater.

Yes, and he's scoring goals for fun. This in fact shows how good he is, now he's got some half decent players around him who will provide good chances he can't stop scoringGreenie Junior said:He scored 5 goals for us this season.. Let's not pretend he was some sort of world beater.

And don't forget he was injured for a long part of the time he was with us this season.0

Yeah, you are right. I've just seen Reza for the first time. He's a feckin world beater, isn't he? But hey, we spent the money on Polish Pete, he's one for the future, you see...Greenie Junior said:He scored 5 goals for us this season.. Let's not pretend he was some sort of world beater.

We were a very poor team when Kermorgant was with us & we're still a very poor team now. He would have struggled along with everybody else if he had stayed. He must be absolutely delighted that he managed to escape when he did.0

Let's not forget he performed his defensive duties very well at set pieces, something we could have done with today as our CHs get no help from our vertically challenged forward line apart from Church and he can't head a ball anyway!2

Did I say he was? I've said all along we didn't replace him properly.PragueAddick said:

Luckily for us he didn't perform his defensive duties when Dervite won the game for us as Kermo ducked!!RedChaser said:Let's not forget he performed his defensive duties very well at set pieces, something we could have done with today as our CHs get no help from our vertically challenged forward line apart from Church and he can't head a ball anyway!

That's because he still has a soft spot for us :-) We could certainly have done with a bit more height at the back today, Cort would have been ideal but presumably not fit.legaladdick said:

Normally teams keep their good players and get better players in around them. We've decided to do it the opposite way; sell the best and bring in dross. Hopefully come next season we'll have survived and brought in some actual footballersRed_Pete in Dubai said:We were a very poor team when Kermorgant was with us & we're still a very poor team now. This time next Saturday we'll see if we've been able to live without him or notk0

Hope people don't assume Yann would be sticking goals in for fun in our team, Bournemouth are better than us at creating chances (Look at Grabben's goalscoring record before Yann was even there).
I agree we didn't properly replace Yann, but this is getting tiresome now. Hopefully in the summer this will be put to bed with some decent striking options.1 -
Anyone who thinks he would have scored 9 in 7 had he stayed is delusional.
He's gone, we didn't replace him....yadda yadda. This obssession with the bloke is at best tedious and at worst embarassing.
I believe the NLA version of YK's departure and for that reason have no respect for him.6 -
And if Yann hadn't left us we wouldn't have been able to unleash the world class striker that is Marvin Sordell.0
-
We sold our two technically most gifted footballers. We did this at a time when the new manager was going to get us playing more football on the ground. Surely that would have suited both players more.
For the same money we bought Polish Pete.
Bit like moving to Dubai and getting rid of your shorts and t shirts on EBay and buying a duffel coat.
Makes no sense.18 -
At last someone who talks some sense, we are sadly lacking creativity in midfield. Kermy is obviously having more chances created for him at Bournemouth. All he had was the ball hoofed in the air to him when he was with us. I have to say though that I think we would now be safe if he stayed. Because the odd goal here and there might well have made the difference between losing/ drawing, Drawing/ winning.Clem_Snide said:Anyone who thinks he would have scored 9 in 7 had he stayed is delusional.
