Did Lee Collins (Ref abandoned Doncaster game) keep us up?

A more serious question.

Eventually, that decision actually saved us 3points.

So, yes, unintentionally, yes.

Or was it the players who scored in the 2 - 0 win in the replayed game?
  • I actually think we would have come out 2nd half and won that game 4-3

God kept us up and hopefully he'll send the spanners down.

said the same thing to my kids walking to the match on Tuesday night. You can never tell with football but I'd lay a big wager we would have lost that game and that 6 point swing has made all the difference.

So, you could say with all the deflected goals, not given penalties and iffy refs, that the rainstorm combined with our dodgy drainage was our "luck" for the season.

We'll find out Saturday I guess...

If we win and Birmingham lose then all it did was get us over the line quicker.
  • If Doncaster go down the abandonment will have been the difference for them. They'd be safe now had they won the game at the Valley.

Thats why I think we should all be hoping Donny stay up.

I feel it would be very hard on Donny, but who knows what would have happened had the game made it to 90 minutes?

Storming into their half, pressure raining down on them, they were winded, clouded minds, and their fans were a bunch if contours.

My dads mate at work is a Doncaster fan. They absolute hate us up there apparently due to that game!

    Personally think it's brilliant.

They couldn't have scored if there wasn't a replay!

not buying it....2 of the goals were down to the ball getting stuck in puddles in the lead up to the goals. They had a red card as well and we would have been attacking the end where the puddles were second half. It was a farce and should never have gone as long as it did. Don't feel sorry for them but would prefer they stay up over Millwall and Brum......
  • It was Simon Church's goal at Blackburn that kept us up. Oh, and Reza's goal at Leeds.

Given it was correctly abandoned, they should be more worried about their performance in the rescheduled game and the 33 other games they haven't won this season. Those are the reasons they'll probably go down.

Can Lee Collins be invited to the POTY dinner and be inducted into the Hall of Fame?

Don't forget they also had a man overboard and were down to 10men

So, with Donny hating us, along with wendys and Huddersfield being an annual cup rivalry, should we be looking at re-locating to Yorkshire?

Leeds can't be huge fans of us after the recent smash n grab in their back yard.................

Anyone saying we would have won it, we could just as easily have lost it by more. Anyone that thinks that we would have won it is either deluded, a joker, an amazing optimist (at Charlton?!?!) or a very biased fan.

If Donny go down I will feel very sorry for them as that is a huge 6 point swing that went against them.

This is why games that can't be played, should not be played in the first place, because stuff like this happens and someone will inevitably feel hard done by, in this case we are lucky it wasn't us.

Anyone who says we wouldn't have won it against 10 men on a quagmire of a pitch is either deluded, a joker, an amazing pessimist or a very biased fan.

Either that or he doesn't possess a crystal ball anymore than someone who thinks we'd have won.

  • As I recall from the commentary at the time, at least a couple of the goals could be attributed to the conditions. This and the fact that they have had ample time to accumulate more points since then, means that I, although I feel sorry for them and hope that they stay up, I don't think they can blame it on this one game.

No, he didn't. He should have called the game off well before half-time, and to come back on when the pitch was in that state was not a good choice. Donny may have issues with it, but that is their problem.

Fact is the ref was a complete dick head for starting the game with the surface mud/water on the pitch well before kick off.

Simon Church scored in that game, I presume that goal was chalked off the records!

Yes the conditions were bad and we beat them on the replay. They had time to prepare for that game aswell.

Like others have said, on this basis, I want to see Doncaster stay up.
